I'm starting to really enjoy "Smallville".
I like how they are paving the way for the Justice League. Green Arrow has always been an explicitly liberal superhero, but I love the good leftie POV the show has in general. Aquaman is a dedicated environmentalist, sinking Japanese whalers and all. Lex Luthor is portrayed as a spoiled kid with a domineering father; he's got entitlement issues and is always trying to outdo his father. He says he does what he does for "freedom and democracy" and calls those who oppose him "terrorists".

My wife (the Republican) loves the show, too. I think she doesn't get a lot of the political overtones. But that's okay. If I can't convince her by my own example that liberalism is a good thing, maybe the Green Arrow can. B-)
