My search for a dress to wear to my daughter's wedding begins!
I definitely do NOT want a dress categorized as a "Mother of the Bride" dress. I was looking at some online, and :scared: . They just aren't ME (though I am a very proud MOTB!).

Her colors are red and white, but I thought I would go with something green.

Maybe even a suit, or a dress with a jacket.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm going to troll some stores tomorrow.

5. My dear SeattleGirl!
How fun!

I got to be MOTB twice! And maybe I'll do it again....my newly divorced older daughter is now seriously seeing a very nice young man....

Have fun, sweetie!

The first dress I had, I had made.......and it's lovely, a full-length blue silk dress.......

The second daughter's wedding found me in a store-bought dress...a nice blue sheath......

I like the idea of a dress with a jacket......

Be sure and post a pic of you wearing it once you've found it!

:bounce: :bounce:

7. Hey Peggy!
I rather like the idea of a dress with a jacket too.

My daughter says it would be okay for me to wear black (it's my favorite color to wear), but I said no. While MY family knows of my proclivity for black, her fiance's family doesn't, and I don't want to give the impression that I'm less that thrilled about her choice. I AM thrilled -- he's a very wonderful young man.

Forest? Emerald? Lime? Avocado? And is it for a day or evening?

Congratulations, btw!

29. She's fortunate to have you as her friend.
Whether it's in person on via phone, I'm sure it means a lot to her.

I've had several friends whose new grooms told them, within a day of their weddings, that they still planned on going out with other women. :grr:

The thing that pissed me off the most is that my friends felt THEY had done something wrong, or were lacking in some way. I understand that feeling, but still....THEY did nothing wrong. It was the asses they married who were in the wrong.

30. He decided the marriage was a good cover.
He is a closeted freeper who is sleeping with his best guy friend. That was a shocker for my friend, indeed.

I would do anything for her. She is like my sister. She lost her mom in 2000 and she doesn't have that much support. I do what I can and help her as much as I can. I am her daughter's Fairy Godmother. :D I love it. She calls me that...fairy Godmother!

It's the little one who has gotten her through this whole thing. She has to be strong for her daughter. Luckily, she is from a different relationship so there won't be anymore contact needed after the divorce.

But, that is sad and crappy, and we are celebrating your baby getting married by finding you a dress! It's going to be fantastic!!

31. A similar thing happened to one of my brothers, though his now
ex-wife is no freeper. But she was trying to deny the fact that she's gay. My brother was a total homophobe until that happened. After listening to his ex talk about what she was going through, and such, he understands much better now, and has no problem with gays.

It did hurt him, though, like any break up does. But something good did come out of it, which I'm glad about.

And if helping me find a dress helps at all, then that's wonderful, for everyone!

48. I did this last year - it turned out to be fun
She initially asked all the moms (me, her stepmom and her mom-in-law) to find something in red but we all ended up in shades of purple, as did my stepmom and my sister which was kind of neat since none of us knew what the others were wearing.

I found my dress at Macy's and loved it - it was definitely NOT typical mom of the bride but it wasn't sleazy by any means. Let me see if I have a photo - hmm, can't find any full length on the day but this was when I tried it on at home -

and this is what part of it looked like on the day!

It cost about $200.
