Hunter's Wife Finds Shot Duck Alive In Fridge
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Neither gunfire nor two days in a refrigerator could slay this duck.

Wildlife officials in Tallahassee said a feathered Lazarus had been shot by a hunter and put into his refrigerator for two days. That's when the hunter's wife opened the door and the duck lifted his head, giving her a scare.

Laina Whipple, a receptionist at the animal hospital, said the man's wife "was going to check on the refrigerator because it hadn't been working right and when she opened the door, it looked up at her. She freaked out and told the daughter to take it to the hospital right then and there."

I don't like hunting, but even I know you're supposed to make sure something's dead.

Edit: So it doesn't suffer.

13. Aside from making sure it's dead,
he should have field dressed it immediately, then plucked and cleaned it shortly after he got home. It's been years since I've hunted, but I still know that you don't throw game in the fridge for two days or so until you get around to cleaning it.

19. Oh Dear God. With my bird phobia, I'd have to sell that fridge
after that. And someone else would also be doing all the opening of the fridge until I was sure that there were no birds in it.

Birds, other than ones ready to be cooked (and I am talking plucked and cut up), scare the ever-living shit out of me.

25. If you started out NOT having a bird phobia
ya sure would have one after opening that fridge.

Who would put a whole duck with feathers, head, bill, feet and all into a place where food is stored? Where did he put it, in the crisper drawer?

24. I agree. If you're going to hunt, make sure the poor animal...
dies quickly. How awful for that duck.

I'd make a lousy hunter.

30. Actually, responsible hunters would agree with you.
The goal is always a quick kill. If you're planning on eating it, you'll ruin the meat if you don't dress and process it quickly. That guy was obviously an idiot.

He tries to kill an animal and she takes it to the vet. These two are at cross purposes.

32. No Heart Attacks
ya gotta wonder what kind of a hunter puts a live duck thinking it's dead, in the frig.

Like a Dick Cheney kind of hunter, a little too drunk to tell, and he probably shot his hunting partner and only gave flesh wounds to the duck.

yes, it's sad for the duck: :(
