I did it.
I swore to myself this morning that no matter how bad the pain got, I would NOT have a drink to cut the sharp edge off it. And I haven't.

And no Vikes, either; this is the one week out of every four that I take off to re-set the "tolerance clock."

Now, if somebody would just get that guy to stop stabbing me in the shoulder with the 400-degree soldering iron, I'd really appreciate it...

1. My dear Redstone!
Wow...triple congrats to you!

That takes some very serious resolve!

But I know full well if anyone can do it, it's you!

Wish I could tell that guy with the soldering iron to fuck off......

And have it mean something!

Major props.......that I do mean, and you know it....... <--very gentle one...

3. Well, you could point me toward a good dentist, because there's some serious
teeth-gritting going on right here.

Maybe I'll sleep tonight.

Good for you about not taking a drink or pain pill.....
If we could you know we would all be there to rub your shoulders....
They have been holding alot of weight lately.
As for me I am self medicating with Coronas

As far as sleep goes my Mom told me when she had a hard time sleeping she would lay in bed and start at her toes,
Then she would think "my left toes are relaxed, my right toes are relaxed", etc going up and
naming body parts separately until she falls asleep. I have used this to help me sleep sometimes.
Just an idea! :)

thoughts are with you.

He must have a death wish.

14. Wow.
I regularly push myself to go a day without painkillers, but never more than 1 day. A week? This must have been one hell of a week.

Someone close to me suffers similarly. I am sorry to hear that ... I know it really sucks. I have not been visiting the lounge for long, and you have a superior sense of humor, so I had no clue. Take care, man. Get some rest if you can. See ya 'round the block.

24. Whoah! You have RSD??? I did not know that. My sincere sympathies to you.
I have RSD on my thumb, of all freakish places. Just a smallish, dime-sized spot but the pain and sensitivity is simply unbearable. I can't even breathe on my hand or I end up in agony. The only thing that helps me is standing outside in sub-zero weather (I live in Minnesota) for an extended period of time until I can't feel my hand any more.

I have thanked my lucky stars many times that I don't have it on a larger scale.

You must be in agony. RSD is one major son of a bitch. Just a terribly painful condition.

A friend of mine had it after breaking her ankle in an ATV accident. She gutted out the agonising physical therapy and is now relatively pain-free. I was very happy for her.

I am so sorry. Shoulder pain is particularly hard to endure for some reason. I know it is hard to go without painkillers. I can't take them because of my history so whenever there is pain, OTC stuff is the strongest I can take. There is a stronger painkiller I had once when I had minor surgery, called Toreadol, I think that is what it is called. Another thing I have done when in pain is rotate 4 or 5 different kinds of OTC medications throughout the day so I don't get a tolerance to any of them.

I know what you are dealing with, I have a problem that I haven't been able to take care of because of lack of medical insurance and it becomes quite painful at times. I did seek treatment last year but it is more extensive than the doctor thought (female trouble) so that money was wasted, and some days it gets very painful, it feels, just like in your situation, like I am being stabbed repeatedly. In my case it's in the abdomen...the last couple of days were not good at all, the level of intensity of the pain was actually scaring me a bit and I am pretty much used to it now since it's been going on for around two years. But today I am fine. I am blessed that it is intermittent, it just pops up every few days unexpectedly. On the bad days I just curl up in a ball in the bed, and grit my teeth. Congrats for making it through...I hope the pain lessens by some means.

I mean it. You're the one who told me to stick around. So go to bed, snuggle with your lovely wife, and breathe deep. Love can be a wonderful tonic. Sometimes its the only one around.

25. Redstone -
Congrats on laying off the drugs. Sorry that you are in so much pain though. *hug* Here's hoping that the morning brings some relief.

Hope that the new year is treating you well (minus the pain) and that it gets better.
