Everyone give your kids an extra hug tonight.
We got word the other day that the three year old daughter of some friends has been diagnosed with leukemia.

My wife and I went to the Children's Hospital today so my wife could donate some platelets. While we were there, this huge extended family came in -- sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts. One of the ladies told me that the little three year old with them had to have surgery on his spine and the blood they were donating was for him.

Experiences like this make you realize what is important...and also makes me thankful that there are always people willing to help.

By the way, if any of you in the Los Angeles area want to donate blood or platelets -- the little girl's (Jane) blood type is B+.

Please PM me if you want to help.

Gracias...

1. Nothing like being brought back to the true priorities.

I am not allowed to donate any blood products, due to being a survivor of lymphoma. I am the wrong blood type anyway, but damn, I wish I could do something.

4. I have to wait to give blood.
I had radiation on my eye last month to kill a melanoma on my retina. I have to wait 6 weeks.

3. My son is spending the night with Grandma and Pappy, but
I'll be sure to snuggle him extra-tight when he gets home tomorrow. I can't even imagine the pain of having to watch your child go through something like that. I don't know if I'm a strong enough woman to bear it. My best to your friends' child.
