I owe a big "THANK-YOU" to Wanna-Jump-My-Scooter!
For my new, unique, flashing Texas/NC signature logo. It catches my geographic ambivalence perfectly! The colors stay close enough to my Texas roots (*) to keep me from totally freaking out, and the flash rate isn't high enough to induce flicker vertigo. Thanks again, WJMS!

(*) I am not a big Texas (as a state) fan. However, my great-great-great uncle was the second president of the Republic of Texas. He was, as it turned out, a racist Indian-killer. He was Sam Houston's VP - or whatever - then ran for President on his own. He killed more Indians than Gov. Bu$h did prisoners. His name - on many a high school in Texas - was Mirabeau Bonaparte Lamar. MBL was the founder of the Columbus Georgia Ledger. His brother, Lucious Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar, was a member of the US Congress from Georgia. Mirabeau Bonaparte Lamar, from the French side of my family (and I am still a Francophile), left Columbus, Georgia, hounded by our family curses: wine, women, and debt. Thus his presence in the repository of such thugs: Texas.

2. Cool!
I have Racist Killer Assholes (RKA) in my lineage, too. Specifically a slave-owner from Georgia who fled to Texas after the governor of Georgia issued a warrant for his arrest for the murder of a slave he owned. And most of my ancestors for many generations were firebrand baptists and die-hard, unreconstructed rebs. It would kill them to know I loathe christism (and worse, I'm a staunch Union man who thinks Lee should have been hanged.)

4. Shucks, Cap'n, it ain't nothin. Lamar line, huh? Oh, boy now there
is a bunch of them in Tejas, for sure. They are still relatively nefarious, as I am sure you well know.

I too have more Gray than Blue in my family tree. Does not bother me in the least, after all, they were the Democrats then, and Republicans were "slave-loving abolishionists" and anti-American to boot.

Funny how things can change. And yet stay the same.

I mean, I like to think that I would have gone Blue in the ACW, since that was the side which was most right in my opinion. But, who knows? I sit here 140 years later with a lot more political information in my head than my Great-great Grandfathers and Uncles could possibly have assimilated, and I can't judge them.

You ever think that if the real, dispassionate dissertation on our conduct of the VietNam War is written, oh, say in 2068 on the 100 anniversary of the war's high point, and my Great, great Grandson or Nephew looks back in oh, say, 2114, and wonders how I could have gone to fight that war, will he judge me?

Now, I have to go think... Damn it. This was about your graphic. It is nothing. Anytime.

You are most assuredly welcome, sir.

6. It's nothing. Nothing but a thing, brother.
But I love it.

Thanks,

Mac
