9. I read a few months ago

that a Brit poll ranked "Comfortably Numb" #1 for best guitar solo. If you've ever seen it done live, that's very understandable. If you haven't, I highly recommend the "Pulse" DVD.

7. Dark Side Of The Moon

"The Wall" was a pretty good album, but DSOTM, WYWH, and Animals blew it away.

That was the beginning of Roger Waters' pretentious period. Although, the rest of the band was originally pitched a choice of "The Wall" or some concept about a hitchhiker. They made a wise choice, as "The Pros and Cons of Hitchiking" eventually became a really shitty Waters solo album.

Actually, if I had to pick I'd go with the first disc. I never get tired of the cool, albeit-played-to-death-on-classic-rock-stations, tracks on side three, but I've never really gotten into side four much. So I'd vote for the first half 'cause I think it's more consistent.

about the Wall. The last song on the last side is actually the first part on the first side with the first song on the first side being the second half of the song.

Just listen to the two back-to-back and you'll see what I'm talking about.

23. Disc 3 looks killer, but where's Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun?

My fiance and I just saw Roger Waters on his Dark Side of the Moon tour last fall, and he's still got the magic. It was beautiful at the end of the show to see them release the huge floating pig balloon and set it free to float over the San Francisco Bay and out to sea. That show, btw, was exhilaratingly anti-W -- all of the WWII imagery had been updated and replaced with shots from Iraq and pictures of the * administration.

('Comfortably Numb' is the best, IMO, not surprisingly) but Disc 1 is more even. Apart from CN, I could live without all of side 3.

Is your assignation of lead vocals 'official', or your best guess? I thought "Another Brick in the Wall (Part I)" sounded more like Gilmour. (And if it's 'official', have you seen any lists for other Floyd albums? I've always wondered about a few songs)
