funny movies aren't funny anymore
I mean, the writing is so lame and predictable and even the slapstick is telegraphed by the one guy holding the shaving cream pie behind his back and stuff.

Seriously, the last movie that really made me laugh was Young Frankenstein ("walk this way"--now THAT's funny!). Will I ever laugh so hard it hurts again?

1. Did you see
"Little Miss Sunshine"?

And "Borat" almost made me pee myself.

I thought "40 Year Old Virgin" was also very funny. And "The Southpark Movie".

Movies are still funny - you just gotta find the right ones.

2. much of what passes for plot is a remake or rip-off of
something much better done years ago on film ... or in literature. i think most movies are shallw as hell and predictable to the point that i despise going to the movies, and i usually only borrow DVDs from a local library. the only DVDs i on are old-ish (30s-60s).

3. Boy, ain't that the truth.
All the ones the poster above just listed - I sat through stone-faced. I also thought Little Miss Sunshine was almost unbearably sad.

The last movies that really made me laugh were Office Space and Good Will Hunting.

4. The Three Amigos was good mindless humor
with no redeeming moral values. :)

I think what has been lost in movie comedies as a whole is that they don't have to be moral lessons.

I find it so completely annoying that laughout loud humor has vanished.

Although "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" was along those lines and, personally, really really belly laugh funny.

Oddly the guy who played "Kumar" is staring in this seasons 24. I guess he's trying to be a "serious" actor now.

6. I liked that movie too
Interesting tidbit about "Kumar" - he's vegan, so he never actually ate any White Castle burgers.

8. I agree.
Most of the so-called comedies made today aren't funny. They're nasty.

I do like The Incredibles and even Monsters Inc. Seems most of the good comedies are animated. They aren't belly-laugh funny but they are amusing.
