14. Not all at the same time, but...
Einstein: Physics isn't my strong point, but a brief run-down over dinner from the master himself would be nice.

Washington or Jefferson: Talk about the country's problems, and get suggestions on how to fix them.

Erwin Rommel: My overall impression of him has always been of a basically good man on the worst possible side, who stayed out of misguided loyalty to his country. I'd like that confirmed or denied. Also, I'd like to get the straight story on whether or not he was setting up for a coup when Hitler forced him to commit suicide.

Elisabeth Rohm: She's pretty. And smart. And I'd like to hear what working on Law and Order was like.

Good thing they're all dead, or this night would probably kill'em

On edit: If they have to be living people, I'd go with Philip Roth, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Tom Wolfe and Barack Obama. The first three for pointers, the fourth so I can grill him and make sure my support for him is justified.

Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 03:12 PM by YankeyMCC
1) John Lennon
2) Abraham Lincoln
3) Issac Asimov
4) Anthony Bourdain - I don't know that I would've thought of that on my own. Alton Brown would probably be a good choice to as someone to talk about the food with.

On Edit: I'd like to put Howard Stern in there too but not sure I can justify knocking any of the others off the list to make room.

49. ohhh Dorothy!
She and Nina Simone are the two I most want to meet but they're both dead, so I only added living people.
My favorite Miz Parker quote - "They say of me and so they should, it's doubtful if I come to good." Which is wrong because she's my (for one's) idol, and when she died she left the rights to her stuff to the NAACP.

28. James "Diamond Jim" Brady, and 3 really good chefs.
"Dinner generally began with 2 to 3 dozen Lynnhaven oysters--
selected especially for Brady by Maryland dealers. Crabs followed--6 of them--
and then at least 2 bowls full of green turtle soup.

So much for appetizers. Jim's main courses included: 6 or 7 lobsters,
2 whole canvasback ducks, 2 portions of terrapin (turtle meat), a sirloin steak,
vegetables, and an entire platter of pastries for dessert. Additional
beakers of orange juice further tested Jim's capacity. As an afterdinner treat,
he customarily downed a 2-lb. box of candy."

I'm completely fascinated by all of them. However, I fear that I would just sit there and draw a blank and not have anything to say or to ask them. Courtney would probably save me, though, by just starting in on whatever she felt like talking about. :-)

46. Abe Lincoln, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Mohandas Gandhi...
All worked for the greater good, and all died by assassin's bullets.

We'd have a home-cooked meal (although Bapu will probably want something light :)), served in the backyard in mid-summer. We'd eat, drink a spot of brandy and tell stories until the sun came up.

Among the living, Al and Tipper Gore, and Elizabeth and John Edwards. Same dining scenario. I bet these 4 are real honest and silly when removed from the spotlight.

52. My grandma who passed away, my aunt who passed away, and
my living parents that I always love spending time with. I was too young to tell my grandma and aunt how much I loved them and the influence they had on my life. I miss them dearly and would love one more dinner with them to laugh and hear them laugh just once again. My folks would be there because I always tell them how much I love them, they are my heartbeat.
