Poll question: Best Woody Allen Movie?

I know I'm going to catch a lot of crap from fans of Love and Death, Bananas, Purple Rose of Cairo, Broadway Danny Rose, Bullets over Broadway, Scoop, Take the Money and Run, Interiors, Everyone Says I Love You and maybe even Sweet and Lowdown, but tough, DU only gives me 10 spots to fill. And as for the rest of you, you're way off anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I thought it was awful. He was trying to copy Bergman and it didn't work. My favorite was Annie Hall. It has a real plot, the characters were believable and the lines were hysterical.

6. Husbands and Wives

The most effectively filmed two hours' worth of hideous interpersonal discomfort in the history of cinema.

Judy Davis is magnificent. Sydney Pollack is magnificent. Mia Farrow is magnificent. Woody Allen is... Well, he's Woody Allen, but it works in this role.

Annie Hall is also an excellent film.

When Juliette Lewis's ex confronts them outside her building, while Lewis's character is arguing with him and macho Woody is making the case to go inside.

I've never seen that kind of sick, panicked discomfort evoked so well onscreen.

But "I'm cold" is very good, too! So many great lines/moments in that film.

But for me, his most aproachable film was "Hannah and Her Sisters."

I don't really remember the plot now, but I do remember the feeling of family, and a lot of connectedness........

Play It Again, Sam because I have very fond memories of seeing it a couple of times when I was a kid.

I say I'm not really a fan, but when I watch his films I usually enjoy them...get the feeling he's overrated, though. I've enver even seen Annie Hall (or, if I did, I forgot that I did), but remember all the Oscars hoopla over it back when it came out.

I just recently watched Broadway Danny Rose and Mighty Aphrodite for the first time.

I especially liked the latter, maybe partly 'cos Mira Sorvino looked almost exactly like my working-girl friend I had here (before she left Vegas), right down to the hair, the body (including her height -- the same, at 5'10") and very, very closely matching her face. It was good to see my special little friend again... :D

Dianne Wiest was simply amazing.

Other than Bullets, I don't really like any of Woody's movies.

Annie Hall is a close second mainly because of Keaton.
