Going around the house, grumbling, turning off all the lights my kids leave on

Kids, arg! :)

1. Did you ever see that commercial
for some bank, where the new homeowner calls his father?

He says, "Dad, I have every light in the house on, and I am air conditioning the whole neighborhood."

I love that commercial.

2. I love that commercial.
I am always yelling at my kids to close the door because they are air conditioning/heating the whole neighborhood.

3. New construction now has to have occupancy sensors
at least in California (Title 24 regs). Word is that the Dem congress is going to make similar federal laws.

4. I am having some success with calling 'Energy Hog!' every time the kids leave a light on
But I still have to do it every single time. Just as I have to ask "Was that towel on the floor before your shower?"

8. I wish my kids were still at home for me to grumble about the lights left on - or whatever.

Unfortunately by the time we figure out that all this stuff doesn't really matter - the kids are grown and gone.

9. I grumble about my neighbors
Who leave lights on when they're not home. :wtf:

My father worked for the power company when I was a kid - I'm incredibly anal about power usage.
