Any other Damon Runyon fans out there?
I never liked the film version of "Guys And Dolls", but one day picked up a collection of his short stories and was hooked. "The Lily of St. Pierre" and "Little Miss Marker" always bring a tear to my eye. "Madame La Gimp" makes me feel good, "Dream Street Rose" still scares the hell out of me, and "Butch Minds The Baby" and "Blood Pressure" make me laugh fiendishly.

Any other Runyon fans?

1. Oh yeah
people don't read him anymore, but he had a great take on life. Before the local radio station turned into a rightwing mouthpiece they used to play rebroadcasts of radio programs, and frequently would play Damon Runyon Theatre.
It's probablly available somewhere, and well worth the listen.
