Would someone PLEASE tell this insane cat that she CANNOT
go outside in the pouring rain?!??

Evie's been singing at the atrium door for 2 hours.

1. Aw, let her go!
When I let Maximouse out in the rain, he's ever so grateful to be allowed to return to me. Evie looks exactly like Max, so she will probably behave in exactly the same way :P

2. Oh, I tried that
 She inexplicably finds a dryish spot even in a storm, and THEN she sings until you go out there with her and scratch her tummy. And she won't come in.

Maximouse is an *awesome* name for a kitty! :hi:

3. I think so too. He's a standoffish beast, though.
He thinks he has dignity.

Random cute cats for you:

16. It is, isn't it?
They aren't my cats however; mine aren't nearly as fond of one another.

4. My cat tried to blow up the house last night.
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 11:17 PM by mycritters2
She likes to sleep on the stove top. Because it's a gas range, and the pilot light makes a warm spot in the middle. I try to keep her off, but also have sort of thought it didn't hurt anything. Then, last night, I went to the kitchen to get some pop, and I smell gas!!! There she is, fast asleep, with the knob for one burner turned slightly on.

That's the last of that!!! She's not allowed in the kitchen anymore. Which has caused new problems, because now she's in the other cats' territory. There was a barn burner of a cat fight in the middle of the night.

But at least the house didn't blow up. How would I explain that to the insurance company? Or the church council?

Oh, and I'd let her out. She'll change her mind after a few wet moments.

7. Sweet Jeebus!
:wow: I'm glad you're okay! My first cat tried to burn the house down when I was a kid, but it was an electric stove, and kitty pushed the buttons that turned on the burners - with a pot on the stove. You have NO idea how bad charred teflon smells. We had to go hole up at my grandma's for 3 days to let our house air out.

I'm just about to let Evie out, even as I explain to her that she'll drown standing up.

9. You can't explain. Cats are experiential kinds of critters
They won't understand why they can't sleep on the stove until the house blows up.

8. She IS disturbingly cute...
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 11:29 PM by kedrys
...but it's the noise levels that get to me. She has a lovely singing voice, but there's only so much I can take.

Sometimes the s.o. caves before I do. :D

On edit: incidentally, this is one of maybe 3 photos of her where you can actually see her face. One of her nicknames is None More Black. :D

13. Awwww, what a cutie!
A couple of mine sleep in baskies once in a while. There'z a very elaborate rotation system that is apparently parallel to the one they have for my sink in the master bathroom. :hi:

11. My father is afraid someone is going to call the landlord on him and
his kitten...because she's been so damned vocal of late. She doesn't meow. She Meeps and it's really hilarious but my father is thinking the neighbors might not be so enamored...even though he lives in catville. :D

We used to call the The Great And Mighty Meep. :D Our only saving grace is that she didn't inherit her dad's siamese voice.

20. Both are complete cuties!
When the triplets were kittens, Socrates (one of Evie's brothers) had a reputation as the world's most accurate alarm clock - as long as you wanted to wake up at 3:17am. He and his siblings learned to sleep through the night eventually.

and passed on your compliment. She sang a pretty intricate phrase, and then she made me come get her. And now she wants to go back out.

Dogs have owners, cats have staff. :P
