So, let's say Shitface McLiar told the truth about the deficit being cut in half -
that's still cutting in half a deficit that ONLY HE created.

It's like saying he's beating his kids less than half of what he did last year. Cutting the deficit in half, like cutting your child beating in half, deserves no reward - it still deserves censure.

Cutting the deficit ENTIRELY - that's worthy of some applause.

Until then, it's just smoke and mirrors.

And more than likely, what Shitface McLiar really meant was "I proposed a budget for this year with an (insanely high) deficit of X dollars, knowing full well it would never pass, just so that I could say athis year, 'I reduced the deficit to 1/2 of X' after Congress gave the real numbers".

Fucking scumbag.

4. Well, see it's even more sinister than what you're saying. He is halfing the deficit that he created
BUT what isn't being taken into consideration is the amount of total debt that he's racking up. Think about it, the Iraq war is completely off the budget, so he can keep spending along for that and still claim to be cutting his deficit, but we have a half trillion dollars in debt for Iraq.

5. So very true! I'd forgotten about that part!
'I've halved the deficit... (but I've doubled actual spending by moving most spending off budget so it's hidden...)'

7. CBPP said the same thing
"This analysis finds recent claims that the tax cuts have produced economic and budgetary gains are greatly exaggerated.

http://www.cbpp.org/policy-points1-23-07.htm "

They do not mention that 'revenues' means income taxes (which were cut) amd FICA taxes (which were not cut). FICA taxes are, of course, only on wages or self employement income, and then only up to $95,000 or so. They are not on royalties, interest income, capital gains, real estate gains, rental income, company profits, or dividend income.
