Have you had your 15 minutes of fame?
When I was a kid I acted in local productions, did TV commercials, worked as a magician, and appeared on the central Ohio version of American Bandstand.

What about you?

1. Nope... I'm still waiting.
BTW... Hasn't the advent of "Idol" reduced it down to less than a minute?

2. I was on the evening news after I was stopped for....
...speeding once. The next time someone sticks a microphone into my car, in a situation like that, I'm going to promptly roll the window up on it. :-(

3. Yeah, I guess I've had mine
I did a little crafty how-to thing on the local morning news shows a few years back. I did things like gingerbread houses and candles.

I guess it's all downhill from here.

You have interesting timing.

A co-worker today said he saw me on LOGO last night. About four years ago I was interviewed for "In The Life". I still run into random people who say they saw me on TV the night before.

Not really "fame". Just something quirky about me, I guess.

8. Fame continues to elude me
Had my best chance when I was 3--was going to be on Romper Room, but it got cancelled! I've been cursed ever since!

Actually, I got some notoriety a few years back for an editorial essay I wrote for the local paper. So maybe "local 15 minutes"? What does that translate into--7 1/2 minutes?

11. Two moments kinda
When I was a kid I was the sheriff in one episode of the Rex Trailer show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_Trailer) which meant that I got a badge and had to pick out the "bad guy" as all the other kids filed by. One kid was given a scarf out of sight of me, it was sort of like a lottery, if I picked correctly I would get a prize. I don't recall if I did or not. :)

Then I was on Swedish TV, caught sleeping on a flight while the local news was doing some piece on a new airline tax.

13. My face has appeared on several shows as an audiance member
Late Night with Letterman and Conan, Late Show with Letterman, Geraldo (actually got a call from someone I used to work with about that one), Regis and Kathy Lee.

Several mentions in local papers for sports and stuff, nothing big.

Something on the local news when I was like 9 about my school. My class was told to do library stuff while they filmed.

And I was the guitarist for The Mighty Lemon Drops, but that's about it.

Just kidding about that last one. Just want to see if anyone reads this. ;)

16. I'm avoiding it like the plague.
Fame, however fleeting, is not something I ever really want to achieve. It comes with an automatic invasion of one's privacy, something I value greatly.

This was long before it was owned by Cedar Fair. I was an extra in the roller coaster shots, and it was also featured in the next day's Express Times newspaper.

19. I guess you could say so
Been interviewed on local teevee news three times. Been quoted in the paper several times and once had my photo (in a tux, no less) on the cover of one of those dogawful newspaper special sections for an award I won.

Then there were all the bylines and mug shots as a sportswriter, columnist, etc. Reporters and whatnot don't think of those as "fame," though — or, they shouldn't. Seems like a lotta people think a byline is a reward of some kind, but it's not. It's a statement, of sorts, of responsibility. Sometimes you wish your name wasn't on a story because you know you're gonna get hammered over it.

I appeared in a local tv production about 10 years ago that was not only aired here, but was sold internationally - apparently a bit of a cult hit in a couple of different countries. Or so the producers wrote...;)

I appeared on the full 1/2 hr show, a talking part. It was only one other character and I; I appeared in one episode only.

Back in my theatre days, I also was on the front page of the newspaper and a (local) entertainment magazine.

We won't discuss my 30 seconds of fame on cbc's the Great Debate from the early 80's. :silly:

22. Couple of times.
One TV political commercial and featured in a U.S.News & World Report article. With photos.
Not related to the TV commercial.

Oh yeah, and back in the olden 'unreconstructed' days I fronted a chorus line of pickaninnies (little white girls in blackface) and sang and danced 'The Hokey Pokey' in a grammar school minstral show.
I kid you not.

23. Yes, it was all over by the time I was seventeen.
As an exchange student I had my pic and an interview in the local paper before I left for NZ. Upon my return, me and one other traveller were the only two guests on a half-hour segment of some show on Oregon Public Broadcasting.
