And the lady in the pic is no exception.

4. Uh, I dated a Cheerlleader in HS
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 03:44 PM by new_beawr
She did not look like the one you picture....

My Mom was a Cheerleader

One of my Nieces was a Cheerleader

My 6 yr old Daughter takes Cheerleading Classes - her instructor describes her as "Super talented" and she was invited to join the competitive squad, she isn't, she's in Karate right now and there's no time for both.

My wife was definitely NOT a Cheerleader, and my wife rules......

6. Don't know about DU, but the men in college sure liked them
My best Halloween costume ever was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders costume, with 2 pairs of socks stuffed in my bra. I literally had men following me around that night (my top was a little bigger than the one pictured and the stuffing looked real)

Got so fed up with one guy that I reached into my shirt, pulled out a rolled-up pair of socks, handed him the socks and said "go ahead - cop a feel."

The look on that guy's face would have been priceless as you handed him the rolled socks.

27. Besides
It would be terrible to make those poor women get up and cheer every time something happened in a baseball game. I mean, they'd have to cheer like once or twice each week!

30. Yeah, as opposed to the non-stop action in football
First down — guy runs for two yards.

Thirty seconds go by.

Second down — guy runs for three more yards.

Another 30 seconds go by.

Third down — guy throws a pass that lands nowhere near a receiver.

Another 30 seconds go by.

Fourth down — guy punts, ball rolls dead, and we start all over — after five minutes of commercials.

:P

31. At least football sets a time limit. Baseball games last two eternities
One eternity because there's no time limit, and one eternity because the overwhelming boredom actually halts the advance of time. I'm super-duper-serious: they've done tests, and time actually stops while a ballgame is going.

32. The average nine-inning baseball game
takes two hours and 50 minutes. An NFL game runs close to three and a half hours.

What were you saying about time?

I can't even comment on "boredom" except to slowly shake my head.

34. You're lying. You're totally totally lying, you liar
The shortest baseball game in this history of the sport lasted one thousand years.

In my whole life, every time I've tuned in at 11:00 to catch the show airing after the 8:00 baseball game, the show has been preempted by at least twenty minutes.

And of course you shake your head slowly! If you as a fan did something fast, you'd be ejected from the ultraslow baseball continuum. Baseball is the only sport that has to be color-corrected due to the red-shift resulting from the extreme slowness of the game.

Football has waaaaay more dead time than baseball. I've never understood the "baseball's so slow" complaint from football fans.

I likes me the cheerleaders. I had the fortunate chance to attend an Atlanta Falcon game a few years ago and had 12th row tickets and a CUTE cheerleader jumped right out of her top. It was one of the top ten moments of my life, ahh the mammories.

If not to women, then at least to sports and the act of cheering.

What, I need to be lead in cheering? Just give me some fucking beer and I'll make plenty of noise.

21. If I had a daughter in High-School
I don't think I would want her turned into an object of sexual entertainment at that age. You can talk about cheerleading being athletic and taking skill in competitions all you want, and I'm sure those things are true, but they aren't asked to cheer at football and basketball games to show off their athleticism. If I'm wrong, then why do almost all teams still have short skirts and many high schools have bare midriffs? Also, why aren't there high school teams that only compete in cheerleading competitions but don't cheer at other sporting events?

In a way its almost ironic that cheerleading is so popular in Texas. The high school institutions are actively working to sexualize these girls at a young age while at the same time the conservative Christian communities are preaching abstinence at them.

They are cute though. I'm all for college cheerleaders.

36. Basic liberal straight male attitude, I suppose. I am disgusted by
the complete objectification of other human beings, I feel angry at a society that convinces women they should act as sexual entertainment for men, and I feel embarrassed for women who degrade themselves that way. If it were up to me, cheerleading would be replaced with something more sexually egalitarian.

But since they don't take my advice, I still look.
