4. Sure. Some things just aren't worth being contentious about

Choice of restaurant, things like that--sometimes the subject at debate is not important enough to get yourself into a snit over. And if you're the sort that likes to have people yield to your preferences, it's only kind to do so for others quite a bit.

5. I agree with that. I save my battles for more important things.
No use giving up all my energies on things that aren't that important.

6. Some people make you feel you deserve a Nobel prize for negotiating the appetizer
:eyes: It's great that they want to stand up for themselves, but they should realize that sometimes doing so forces other people to sit down and shut up.

It depends on the person & the circumstances.

An elderly relative, who won't remember it tomorrow, most of the time.

A peer, who would take it as a sign of weakness, almost never.

A friend or family member, who gives me the same consideration, most of the time.

10. You should give people more credit
Maybe your experience is different, but I find being yielding in situations where it makes little difference to you can actually encourage others to behave the same way.

13. You and are on the same page
I don't get why people are proud of their inability to compromise, especially if it makes someone else happy as a result.

16. I do
I got distracted in IM & forgot to add the next thought before hitting reply button. I meant to hit the submit button on IM instead.

The 3rd line is there now.

11. Often
I call it consideration for others' feelings. All successful relationships require it; if you don't "go along" with someone's wants every once in awhile in order to make them happy, then you're probably a pretty selfish person. IMO, of course. ;-)

15. Only if you want a job and/or friends.
Being completely unyielding is not a trait of which to be proud.
