Good grief, dude! You wonder why most personals pass you by...
if you're separated.

My good friend, who dealing with divorce and child custody issues, asked me for an intro to meet a particular young lady that's a member of one of our rival teams at team trivia.

Last night was trivia night, and she was present. My friend showed up to the game late, it's his afternoon with the baby and he was dealing with his soon-to-be ex and her boyfriend (don't ask! :eyes:) who was late in retrieving the baby.

To keep a long story short, I even got her to stop by the table (I can warp reality on occasion. ) and I watched him crash and burn.

Him: Sorry, guy. I blew that. I'm still wound up from earlier.

Me: I see. You handled that like... What can I say, dude?

Him: Yeah, thanks. I think she'll remember me now.

Me: Yeah, she'll remember what a jerk you were, I can promise that.

Him: This wasn't a good night.

Me: Until you're done with the divorce and custody, I don't think you're gonna be good date material. Take a break. I'll get you a beer.

Him: Okay, and how about...

Me: You're getting a beer. No intros for you! :P Now, you see why most personals will pass you by if you're separated.

P.S. Please hold a good thought. He had a rough day.

1. when it comes to personals--
my first question is 'how long have you been divorced?'

i prefer them to have been divorced at least one full year.

drop them like a hot potato less than that.

the longer the marriage the longer the recovery.

kinda like the half life of radium.

good rule of thumb: for every year of marriage allow up to 1/2 year for recovery.

just my .02 ymmv

6. Just because their ad says divorced
It doesn't mean they are actually divorced. Something I learned the hard way. I supposed people say they are divorced when they are not because people like me run as fast as I can from someone who is only "separated". It's is no good to get involved with someone only to have them reconcile with their wife.

8. Good point
but if they're really separated and not yet divorced, that fact will come out pretty soon.

9. Personals are amusing
I like the ones that say how sick they are of drama - because you know they are the drama queens.
