Know-it-alls drive me crazy
Everybody knows a know-it-all - the person who, no matter what the subject, professes to be an expert in it. And no matter what you're discussing, he/she knows somebody who has done it/had it done/experienced it or whatever, if she hasn't done it herself. :eyes:

I have an acquaintance (won't call her a friend but I'm thrown into her company a lot) who's like that. Someone get bitten by a dog? She knows people who've been attacked by dogs and is therefore an expert. Someone talking about childbirth? She knows everything in the world about pregnancy, childbirth and child rearing. Doesn't matter what it is - she has to butt in and drone on and on and on and on about it.

And she generally doesn't know what the hell she's talking about. :nuke:

I cannot imagine how her family puts up with her.........

3. Ah
But what about those of us who really DO know everything? j/k

Actually, while I am conversant with many subjects, I know diddly about the bible, trigonometry, calculus, car engines, car transmissions, rare birds or rare flowers. I'm sure there are other subjects of which I am also completely clueless.

4. same here...
people who think they know it all really annoy those of us who do know it all.

I think we have the same acquaintance though... no matter what's happened to someone, the same has happened to her... only worse!

:hi:

We all know one, don't we?
:eyes:

But really, I don't claim to know everything (and those things I do know about, I like to think I present in an un-annoying way - did I just invent a word?) and I do try to let others register an opinion especially in things that don't involve just one solution.

I'd hate to think I was like that...

12. bleck
the sweet ones are the absolute worst. I was best friends with one growing up and I don't know why I put up with it. She even used to tell me how I felt for crying out loud.

13. It's about insecurity. They talk because......
they're afraid that if they shut up you will walk away and leave them alone. They don't like that. When they're alone they have to hang out with a person they don't like very much.

Does that help? I've got a link somewhere.....

People who don't like "know it all's lack compassion anyway.

14. you know, I knew a woman like this
she was a know it all but also just a constant talker. And after I got to know her I found out that her mother had been a drug addict. When she was still an infant, her mother got put in jail and she was left with friends. After a while when mom never showed back up, they finally contacted her mom's sister and told her 'somebody needs to come get this baby'. So her mom's sister, who had no children, made a deal with D's biological mother that she would bail her out of jail only if D's mom would give up her parental rights and sign her over to her (D's aunt). Her aunt became her mom and raised her from that day forward, but I can't imagine what the first 6 months or so of her life must have been like, being left with people who really did not care about her and did not want to take care of her. I always wondered if she kept talking constantly for that reason, out of fear of being alone. It makes me sad to think about, although I really couldn't stand to be around her at all. Sad what some people go through in life.
