My bathroom flooded AGAIN
For the second time in as many days. I called the apartment office and someone showed up at midnight the other night to see it and then came back in the morning to snake out all the drains. Well apparently that wasn't the problem because it happened again as I was getting ready to go to work. Fuck. I called 45 minutes ago and they haven't shown yet. I want to wait for them because clearly the maintenance people have no fucking clue. I want this fixed or I want another apartment. This never happened before my asshole neighbors moved in upstairs. What the hell are they putting in the drains?

1. The flood came from the drains?! Yikes!
Do you have a tub or one of those flat shower floors, cause that sounds like a crazy amount of water it it's a tub. Before I moved into my apt, the bathroom flood from the ceiling because of the lady upstairs. Owner of the apt. replastered ceiling but did a crappy job and it's always flaking away.

2. It backed up through the tub and toilet
There is water between the linoleum and whatever is beneath that. I saw water coming up through the floor too so there is a serious problem somewhere I'd guess. The main problem seems to be tree roots growing through the pipes outside. I guess they still use those old clay pipes instead of PVC so this is probably an ongoing problem. Every time I have lived in a ground-floor apartment, this has happened.

6. Well they cleared up the problem
It was outside. Tree roots through the pipes. The carpet got soaked so I two loud fans blowing on it too dry it out. My cat is TERRIFIED. He is stuck in the bedroom away from his food and water and litter box. Poor thing won't even let me carry him into the other room.

5. You have my sympathy. Your reality made my "overflowing toilet nightmare" pale by comparison. --
I still don't know what made me have a horrible nightmare like that!

7. They had to remove the carpet padding
And set up loud fans to dry it out. My cat is terrified. He won't come out of the bedroom. He won't let me carry him out. And I have to keep those fans on overnight; I don't know how I will sleep. And they emptied out my closet so I have crap everywhere. What a fun day!

8. I can relate to this
I had an apartment bathroom flood once too. Stuff (and that's a euphemism) bubbling up from toilet and bath until they flooded over. Every time someone in the building above us flushed, it came to us. Fortunately, we told our landlord we were going to a hotel until it was fixed and he paid for it. Then when the plumbers were there fixing it, I asked if they knew who cleans up that kinda stuff (there I go again). The plumbers cleaned it up for me.

I guess the roofers knocked shingles and tar down the air vent which then blocked the outflow and we were lucky enough to be on the first floor and got the *stuff*.

Sorry you are having to go through this. Sucks.
