I hate when I can't stalk old boyfriends on Google
because they have the same name as someone famous. Was just looking up one, and unfortunately there's some prominent economist/author by the same name. Grrr.

Anyone else a googlestalker?

1. I've looked up a few old boyfriends from high school
they seem to have done well, and I was happy for them.

Where's the line between stalking and curiosity? (note, I didn't send em any notes to say hi, although I thought about it....)

4. Mine is probably more curiousity, since I never contact them
I've found pictures of a few of them, which I saved and sent to friends with messages like: "can you believe this guy who looks like the Dad on 'Gilmore Girls' now bit me on the butt at a fraternity party?"

My name is horrendously common, so I know they're not googling me - hell, a former employer couldn't even find me, and he knows exactly where I live.

3. One of my exes...
has been married and divorced twice, and is now dating someone who graduated in 2003 (He's 39).

I am SO relieved that I woke up. Or I would probably have been ex Mrs Tim #1.

5. I saw one ex not too long after college - he was fat and bald
God bless the girl he knocked up in college - she's still with him!

Sounds like Tim was a trainwreck!

8. I could tell you stories...
LIVED for his bong. I kept trying to get him to grow up, and he just wouldn't.

Once called me at 3 AM to break up with me because he didn't feel like he was being honest with me. (He couldn't be honest with me during normal daylight hours?? My grandmother was in very frail health at the time and I thought someone was calling to tell us she had died!!)

So he continued being an idiot through our relationship. The chick he dated right after me who became Ex Mrs. Tim #1 helped him get his shit together enough to go back to school and get his degree.

He did it for her but always thought I was a nag. :eyes:

He's now some bigwhig at the United Way.

I thank God every day that I wised up. Oh and he ain't bald yet, but he ain't skinny either.

:spray:

9. I've looked exes up, but never stalked them
Though, I do occasionally wonder what happened with my big Ex (wife, as opposed to g/f, and I don't mean big size-wise, as she might be 5'0" on a good day) - I did see her on a magazine cover not long ago, which really caused me to do a double-take.

For maybe 2 years after we got officially divorced, I would receive calls from creditors looking to track her down, but at least that has stopped.

and, my first serious ex from college made it onto CNN once (she was quoted about something regarding teachers or something like that)

The odd thing is that I have an unusual last name, but there is somebody with my name that has some music center in the Midwest named after him.

Oh, and the director of a large conservation group. Good times. :D

10. Even better is Zabasearch - the stalker's companion! Just kidding. I have looked up
exes, just to see if they are still alive or dead, but I've never done anything with the information. There's been a mild temptation to contact them, but it goes away quickly when I remember why we parted ways.
In two instances, the casual looking-up of exes seemed to result in that person actually appearing again in "real life" - if only fleetingly - within a week or two of looking up one, I spotted that one in a grocery store (but did not talk) and in another case, I found the myspace page of one, and read the whole thing but made no attempt at contacting - then about 5 weeks later, that person actually rang my doorbell seeking to become friends again. But I turned them away. That would have opened up a brand new Pandora's box. Weird though how the act of looking for them was followed by unexpected encounters with them.
On the other hand, I did have one successful reunion with an ex of about 25 years ago, after an exhaustive search which included a lot of letter writing, we did reconnect and even met in person once - it was happy and we still keep in touch now and then these days.

11. Something similar almost happened to me
I had mentioned my ex above, though I hadn't looked her up in several years...but, it is weird how it happens that you see the ex's name somewhere and suddenly they pop up again.

But, I had a bit of time before I was going to start a new job last summer, so I took a 2 week project job that paid really well to fill my time. But, on my last day at the job, I had to send somebody an email, and this guy's last name in the mail directory was either right above or below the name of my ex-wife in the company's email directory (it's a multi-billion corp with offices all over the country) - since she has a very unusual last name, I was pretty sure it was her. But, with it being my last day there... why bother to stir things up?

Then, a few months later, I was passing by a magazine rack when I saw a magazine cover with a very short and very familiar looking woman in the center, surrounded by a bunch of other people... I did a double-take upon seeing the pic, and it turns out it was my ex at the company where I worked for 2 weeks (there was an accompanying article on her, and she works in a branch office of the same company I had)

12. Just found one on LinkedIn, but didn't link to him
Didn't know about Zabasearch - I'll have to bookmark it.

What's weird is that a few of my ex boyfriends live around here, but I never see them. My friends see them, but I don't.

Which is fine with me....
