What Household Chore Do You HATE The Most?
And which chore is it that you really don't mind doing?

Me: It's gotta be laundry. I truly hate doing laundry and FOLDING laundry. (UGH!) I don't mind vacuuming and dusting. For my favorite chore... I'd prefer to be outside doing yard work... mowing, trimming, etc.

Laundry is my favorite chore. (Not that I love doing it, just that given the choice I'd much rather do it than anything else.)

Raking is definitely the chore I hate the most, even though I only need to do it 2-3 times a year. Shoveling snow sucks too.

11. Paying the maid.
No, seriously. I cannot live in a dirty, schmutzy, cluttered house. It must be CLEAN. Clean corners, windows, baseboards, windowsills. No clutter, nice arrangements, tidy, organized. NO smelly bathrooms, moldering fridges and dirty light switches and plugs. (HUGE pet peeve)

However, my TIME is infinitely better spent in NOT doing it myself. I'd rather garden, read a book, or enjoy time with my friends. I'd far rather pay a good housekeeper to make sure these things are well tended to.

39. Ah, yes, cat vomit is THE worst...
Especially when you're just falling asleep and you hear that dreaded sound, that sound that will snap you awake faster than a smoke alarm, and you lay there in the dark not wanting to listen, but you have to, especially if you have to walk a few steps barefoot in the dark to get to the light switch...

...only to find another cat already "helping" to clean it up...

...or, somehow worse yet, you find NOTHING?!?

We have a box full of stuff to file. Yikes. I do the taxes so I have to do that soon.

Same problem in the kitchen. Where to put the groceries so I can find what I need.

I don't mind laundry but I hate ironing. I have a SIL who irons to relax. She's wonderful other than that insanity.

20. Cleaning the ferret cage.
You have not experienced poop until you have owned ferrets. They crap about once every two hours, and it isn't nice little rabbit-like poops either. I'm talking gloppy, large, foul-smelling waste. It has to be done once a day and it is the absolute worst chore I can think of.

21. the person who hates bathtub cleaning...
...just hasn't discovered the right product.

It's Comet bathroom cleaner. Comes in a big spritz bottle. Nice citrus scent. NO SCRUBBING. Scum wipes right off and the surface is shiny.

And seriously, folks. Hasn't folding laundry improved with dryer sheets? I don't mind folding laundry that smells like oranges and sunshine.

The worst for me: washing cat food dishes. I should just use paper plates.

24. Yes!
Comet bathroom cleaner is the best. It isn't always easy to find, though.

I'm also addicted to Oxy-Clean toilet tabs (amazing) and cleaning gadgets. Don't know what I'd do without my Black & Decker Scumbuster (battery-powered scrub brush) and Hoover Enviro-Steamer (hard floor cleaner that just uses water). Both save time and elbow grease!

I loathe cleaning the bathroom and the floors but these things make it a lot easier.

Up until now, I've been using powdered cleanser... and scrubbing with a sponge and bristle-brush. Not fun.

Not the WORST... but not fun either.

After posting this reply, I'm headed to the kitchen to add it to the weekly shopping list.

35. I used to love
washing the dishes by hand but that was back when I didn't cook every day for lunch and at night too. Now I hate washing dishes. I hate it to the point my hands hurt. Rubber gloves don't do any good because all of them are too large. Even with a pair of extra small I found once I had at least an inch hanging over on every finger and the non-slippery part of the glove hung over my finger pads.

I love polishing silver. Something about making it shine is so peaceful to me. I think it's because I can see I've accomplished something and I'm not going to have to do it over and over. Just have to do it the next time the tarnish builds up.

43. Isn't that strange.....
all the odious chores people have mentioned, including dishes, cat vomit, laundry - I'll do any day over mowing the flipping lawn, or weeding the lousy yard/garden. Especially when we lived in Omaha! Hot, bugs, man! I hated it. And being a good ecological concerned sort, I use a non-power mower, too. Okay, so it's harder work, but I don't have to deal with the noise, smell, pollution and general aggravation of a power mower.

So, when we moved here to LA, and we started house-hunting, I kept telling our real estate agent (an Hispanic gay guy about our age) that I didn't want to mow lawns, and he kept looking at me with this "why is he worrying about this?" look on his face. Because, we discovered, nobody cuts their own grass here! Oh, man, those guys can be the most undocumented immigrants on the planet, Jose and Jesus, you are life-savers. I don't think they're undocumented though, because some of my wife's friends think we're paying too much. Whatever, they're worth it and more.

I like cleaning surfaces (don't really like cleaning toilets but if you do it often enough, it's not a problem).

I do not like going through papers, cleaning out closets and trying to find room for stuff. I don't have the patience for that.

But otherwise, I find cleaning cathartic. I guess I'm a sicko!
