Oh, Bah. Another house showing on Saturday morning.
I know what I'll be doing all day tomorrow :eyes: This thing is never going to sell so it is such an incredible waste of time and energy. :grr: :freak:

You are heading into the best time to sell, keep good thoughts! It'll happen.

2. I suppose if it'll sell at any time, this would be it.
My car is kaput and there are no houses for sale in the area that I'd consider buying. :P

4. Exactly, wildhorses.
This house is a hard sell, and people walk through it just because it's one of the big ones in town. It takes many hours to get it into shape for a showing and when all people want is a tour of and old colonial, it irritates me to no end. I can't refuse a showing though, just in case; just as I won't insist on "screening" potential buyers because most of them come from out of state and look at everything on the market over a period of two or three days, tops. I don't want to discourage anybody, you know? As for crying... I have seven bedrooms and four bathrooms to clean, not to mention the livingroom, study, t.v. room, dining room and kitchen. It takes FOREVER and I despise the work. So there! :)

12. They can and they will, but for most of the day tomorrow
they will be at school and other activities. Plus, two of them are boys :( hehe

Not-so-great pics of the kids:

Link to house: (it says six bedrooms but there are seven... two of them are linked by an arched aperature w/no door.

23. Thank you about the kids!
They are school pics and not particularly good. Yes, the house is on the historic register and the dining room chandelier is original while the bedroom one, I believe, is not.

7. Maybe If You Don't Do Anything It Will Sell Better?
I mean you've tried the other way

try letting it all go and see what happens?

Maybe it will fell "lived in" and someone will want it more?

13. I'm thinking about it.
Once a family arrived an entire day before they were scheduled to show. There was laundry piled on the floor and makeup littered the bathroom counters, dishes were in the sink and the catbox was NOT fresh. We got very good feeback! But they didn't buy the place.

9. Gah, you have my utmost sympathy
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 08:38 PM by Connonym
I decided I couldn't deal with the stress of 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and an at-home job AND keep the house clean enough to show at a moment's notice, I'm moving out this weekend and the house goes on the market next week. I HATE moving.

I hear that burying a statue of the virgin Mary in your yard will guarantee a sale. Or is it a statue of one of the saints? Hell, I can't remember. Best of luck with the showing.

ETA: I looked it up, it's St Joseph. Hope the ground isn't frozen solid where you live  because surely that's the only way to sell.

14. It is St. Joe.
We buried one in the front garden of the last house and it took two years to sell the place, which makes me wonder how long it would have taken without Joe's powerful aid. :P Believe me, if I could afford to get out of here before the place is sold I would do so!

20. It's a risk, if it doesn't sell quickly I'm screwn
but I'd rather go further into debt than have a nervous breakdown. My agent tells me the market doesn't suck as bad as "they" would have you think but I think they tell you anything to get you to list.

24. There is truth to that.
We were clearly mislead as to how many people would view the house and how long it would take to sell. I wish you lots of luck!

15. Between the taxes and the oil heat,
I am screwn! That's why we don't expect anybody local to buy the place. Somebody from California would think it's a steal.

28. Too bad it isn't summer
We had no idea that our house was as drafty as it was until it started getting cold. We moved there in July. We should have asked the realator to give a figure as to the winter heating bill instead of accepting the answer "reasonable". The people who owned it before had money. Why didn't they use some of it to put in some proper windows?
If your house is drafty at all, turn up the heat so the potential buyers don't notice. The answer to how much it cost to heat is "reasonable" or "affordable".

29. We are very lucky that the house is solid - no drafts - good
windows and all that. It's just big, and this is Maine, so the cold weather is very cold and it lasts a long time.

27. I just started
went on the market Sunday with pics online. Did have a showing tonight so that's good. Very discouraged over the fact that when I decided to sell this month there was only one condo for sale in my community. now there's six. and one's bank owned 20k below market :( I do have the advantage of being well kept and shows very nicely

33. It will be a year in April so even if it happens on Saturday it will not
have been quick. I'm living in the same house as the husband I am divorcing which adds pressure to an already shitty situation. We need to separate first to make sure we're doing the right thing, and we can't even get that plan going! Meanwhile we fall back into a comfortable pattern and it makes my life surreal. :hi: Hi, The Traveler.
