4. My father was a SeaBee in the South Seas - 1943-45

5. My dad was in from 1943 to 1946.
He was injured during training, he stayed in the states working in a naval hospital.

6. My father tried to join the Navy in early 1942.
He was rejected beause of eyesight issues. Figured he'd always have a bunk to sleep in (unless his ship got sunk) and had been in the Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes during the 1930s.

He ultimately enlisted in the Army. Thanks to his excellent scoring on the IQ test, they tried to get him to go to OCS. He refused, and preferred to stay with the guys he had enlisted with...and ended up a staff sergeant.

Let's salute our fathers who served in whatever war...because the were our fathers.

10. My father died nearly 15 years ago....
I still miss him so much. He was a good man. As I am certain that your father was.
