Unemployment's down, jobs are coming and there's a housing boom.
But there's another way of gauging the economic leap forward Southeast Texas is taking, and it's just as reliable as waistline-measuring tape.
In fact, the two could be related.
Fueled in part by hurricane recovery and Southeast Texans' enjoyment of the dining experience, the region's restaurant industry has undergone a growth spurt that one area industry official said should continue for some time.
