btw: The Mandatory Malloy gang are just as much, if not even more, a welcoming bunch of fine folks as one finds right here in the lounge. The difference is the snark. (They could though, keeping a fellow DUer happy is worth it's weight in gold sometimes and this gang is VERY up to that task!)

My dog uses that tactic too but unlike cats my dog just wants her tummy rubbed because she actually loves having her tummy rubbed. (Maybe this is evidence that dogs are from Venus and cats are from Mars).

I see that you posted your response to me after I went to sleep last night, sorry I missed it. As to myself, here is how I spend my time in the DU world: 30%GD; 30%lounge; 30%LBN-(where I rarely post) and 10% everywhere else with a goodly portion of that 10% in the "Washington State" forum. While listening in to Mike Malloy I generally am multi-tasking throughout the DU while allowing the emotions from the show to influence my posts BUT I stay out of the lounge while he is speaking. For me the lounge is a place of warmth and fun, a place to get or (try to) give a good laugh, a place to feel HUMAN again...

Everywhere else in the DU is where I go to learn, to get my news and to aid my fellow DUers in the "Good Fight". I am not very good at the "fighting" part but I do have my moments, those things I learn as a Truthseeker are of great help in this department. I expect as more and more of our fellow DUers "turn on" to Mike Malloy our numbers will grow and each will be warmly welcomed as you all have warmly welcomed me there.
