so my brother emailed me this picture ..
This is what's left of his car after they were hit by a transport (tanker) truck as it tried to pass them on the Interstate in Kentucky last Sunday night. They spun around on the highway and ended up upside down in a ditch after crashing through a guardrail. It took firefighters 1/2 an hour to cut the car apart to get them out. They are back at home in Ontario Canada, recovering from their injuries. They will be fine.

7. he sent more ...but
I won't post them. They upset me just looking at them. Photos of the inside of the vehicle, blood .. a mangled mess. I am SO thankful they survived and hope none of their injuries cause them trouble through the years. Lots of back and neck pain, leg injuries etc ..

amazing indeed.

10. It was really frightening ..
My brother managed to call my sister who in turn called me. I called the hospital where he said they had been taken and they would NOT give me any information other than to confirm they were at the hospital and in ER.
The only comfort we had was knowing that he was well enough to make a cell phone call to my sister. He was panicking re his wife, he didn't know how badly injured she was as she was unconscious when they removed her from the wreck.

6. I'm glad that they will be ok.
The big trucks really scare me when I'm on the highway. I was on the road in the rain this week and I don't think they slowed down at all.

13. I am so glad that your loved ones are ok ... I feel like crying looking at that picture ...
So many people around me including myself have been through so much pain regarding loved ones these past couple of months that I don't know how we all stay so sane through these times. I am glad everyone is alright.

but now I am finally feeling the affects of everything ... these past two months has totally changed all of our lives. I live in my own place now and the other night I was sitting in front of my computer and all of a sudden , I started BAWLING. And seeing my mom get around so fast , she has makes me happy and cry at the same time. Its a miracle. She is a changed person and so am I. I will be forever grateful to the universe for this miracle.

20. sometimes it takes a while for the
dust to settle and for our bodies to catch up in the emotional turmoil. I'm so glad your mother is doing well! It is indeed good news. Tears of joy and tears of fear for what might have been are not unusual at all. I wish and hope for all the best for your mom and for you. Cherish your relationship even if the times get tough once in a while.

17. thanks Prag! it's a Honda.
I'm not sure if it's a civic or accord, I'll have to ask. He had just bought it this past summer. It was only a year old, a hybrid that he was really pleased with.

22. Yes, and keep in mind the car may have held up fairly well...I mean when
the firefighters use the Hearst Tool (jaws of life) to rescue people, they start peeling away metal and popping doors. The end result often makes the accident look much worse than it is.

I'm not at all downplaying the seriousness of what happened and I'm glad everyone is okay.

I'm just pointing this out in case some people are saying, "damn, I'm not going to be buying a Honda hybrid if that's how the car survives a crash..."

My brother felt that they weren't injured as badly as they might have been because the Honda is a car that has good safety ratings. He says he wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I am guessing I-65 somewhere near Bowling Green?

That stretch of highway is one of the most dangerous around here.

Scary, isn't it?

I remember years ago my then boyfriend was in an accident - I found out when I read about it in the paper. On my way into town, I passed the garage where the car had been taken - it looked like a crumpled up piece of blue tinfoil.

He got out of it with a dislocated shoulder - I'm still amazed at that.

If you can believe it. But then I'm free until pledging begins March 23.

J & K have been out of town then under the weather. But things are getting back to normal. I'll see when they might have some time for a get together.
