This is a song a friend of mine wrote in the second grade.
It is song with a march-like melody.

Melinda and Brenda and Jennifer get to talk when the teacher's talking
They say "shut up" when we're not even talking

1. Well, it expresses a strong emotion!
And some people say that's the essence of poetry.

When I was about 6, I wrote a poem about my mother which ended with the immortal lines:

"I like to sit on Mummy's lap.
I think that Mummy is a jolly good chap."

(I think I got 'jolly good chap' from some old-fashioned children's book - it certainly wasn't the way my family talked, apart from the gender aspect!)
