Need something kinda exciting for 5 adults plus my 13 year old, who's watched flicks like Blood Diamond and Jackie Chan movies, so he can handle some violence okay but no nekkid wimmens. Thanks!

3. Geez, I'd rather let a teen see sex than that much violence.

7. Me too - I'd rather my kids see some sex (as long as it's not degrading to the
woman or violent) than graphic violence. Sex is a healthy part of life, and I think watching violence, especially heavy doses of it, is much more harmful.

12. Don't worry. I don't let him see graphic violence, and we talk about absolutely everything, so I
know my son. He is very uncomfortable seeing naked women and heavy making out, so I try to screen out the movies with gratuitous sex. I'm talking Jackie Chan kinda violence. Blood Diamond had some tough parts, but he saw beyond that to the important lessons in the story. I was the one gasping and squealing in the theatre, and he had to tell me, 'Mom. Relax!' He's not the violent type at all. He's alright, don't fret.

Thank you for your imput!

16. Hi, tblue
Violence is the greatest evil our society will ever face. I turned my back on it - in books, film, tv, etc. Whether it's "Jackie Chan" violence or "Michael Myers" violence makes little difference in the overall scheme of things -- it's all about desensitization. You are the adult -- lead the way for your son.

to be PC? My. family. does. not. focus. on. violence. We don't even watch television because almost all that's on there is garbage. But I am not going to try to sanitize my son's entire life. He is so mature, and so beautiful inside and out, you have no idea. Geez, I regret even asking. Thanks for the tip, tho. I know you mean well.

Get the DVD and listen to Carl Reiner's director's commentary. He tells how he wanted Richard Pryor to play the sheriff, and he didn't think Gene Wilder should play The Kid, until the orig. guy got sick or something. He just talks aobut how the whole thing evolved, and how much he sincerely adored everybody in that movie. It really made me like Carl Reiner even more. Thanks for the input!

Volver with Penelope Cruz. 90% on the tomatometer.

Not sure about the sex part, but the sexy part will definitely be there.

15. You hated Children of Men?
Tell me more. I thought it was an excellent film. One of the best non-comedies I've seen in years.

I was thinking about recommending it until I reached your last post.

17. My hubby liked it. My sister, her hubby, and myh son didn't like it. It was too
depressing and left too much unanswered. The only thing I liked was Michael Caine's character. Oh, and the not so subtle jabs at *. Did you catch his name in a red splat? None of them saw it, just me. And the gov't bad guy was 'Homeland Security'. The rest was such a downer. I guess it just wasn't my kinda movie. On the other hand, my husband thought it told a good story that created an entire unique world.
