Sunday night 8pm

THE ROLLING STONES ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS. Rarely seen landmark 1968 performance, originally shot for British TV, but never aired, features The Rolling Stones, John Lennon and The Who. Tomorrow night at 8 on WLIW/21.

1. It's definitely worth watching.
I saw it on tv in the UK last summer. It seems the tapes languished in the BBC archives for a few decades, until someone found them and decided they were worth broadcasting.

It's worth it alone for rare live footage of Brian Jones.

3. The Who's performance was great.
So great, in fact that it's rumored that the reason the Stones pulled the show from the BBC and shelved it for 30 years, is that even they felt the Who blew them off stage that night.

Of course the Stones did have an excuse.... Brian was a fucking mess, and even then, some 7 months before the fact, it was clear he wouldn't be around much longer :(
