1st date help
here's the story:

I used to work with this woman who left my job. Last I heard she was getting married (two years ago). I recently ran into her dad who said she wasn't anymore and was single.

I called her up. She seemed really happy to hear from me. We chatted a couple of time for a couple of weeks. I invited her to dinner last week for tonight. She was supposed to call me this morning to set up. She calls and says we can change plans to either lunch tomorrow or coffee this evening.

Is this a blow off?

1. no it's a side step
Dinner is too heavy a step it seems. Sounds like baggage issues.

3. So here is my strategy...
Be super fun, super light and make spending time with me fun.

(that's usually my strategy, btw)

Act like a titanic macho ass, push her around a little and say "WHAT SAY WE GO BED NOW? A HA HA HA HA!"

Then cry like a little boy when it doesn't work/she slaps you, and beg her forgiveness. :)

No, just be yourself. Don't get locked into the "friend" category--keep the lines of innuendo open.

2. not a blow off...
first dates always get the benefit of the doubt. she got nervous & thought coffee would take some of the romantic pressure off.

Right off another relationship, she probably feels like taking it slow.

7. I always thought going for coffee
was a good first step to see if you wanted the evening to continue. From coffee to dinner to who knows??? At least that's how it works for my son. He seems to have quite a few coffee dates that end up in nice dating relationships.
