Please help re: online gourmet mail order foods sites. It's for a hospice patient.
Someone I love is facing metastatic melanoma to the liver. He and his wife have only months left together.

I want to send them some individual meals for their freezer, for the days when she is too tired to cook and he doesn't feel like eating. Things they can stock up on so they don't have to worry about what to eat.

I would cook for them, but I live too far away.

Does anyone know which of the on-line gourmet sites are tried and proven?

I would really appreciate any response.
Thanks.

2. Thank you for replying.
I have been struggling with how to help them. It's just a little something that I can do for them.

Hopefully, they will decide to hold a benefit...to help with their travel expenses to and from the medical center.

Until then, this is the best I could come up with.

Thank you for answering. I appreciate it.

4. Wow! I never even thought about that! They service that area! A gift card would be perfect!
Most excellent suggestion. Thank you!

6. A thought - if they are in a larger city, many restaurants deliver or there
are delivery services - prepaying for some local businesses might be another option.

7. They live in a small Minnesota town. Very few options.
But, I COULD find out what their fave delivery places are and get them a gift card! I am certain that there is a chinese place in town that delivers.
Another excellent idea!
Thank you!

8. What a thoughtful friend you are, Beausoir.
I'm a hospice volunteer visitor and I can tell you that providing simple, practical support like you're suggesting to the families during this difficult time is most valuable, indeed.

I don't have any particular suggestions with regards to online gourmet sites to peruse, but what about considering some gift certificates to local restaurants near their home? Places that might deliver, to make it even easier?? Just a thought....

Good luck and all the best to your dear friends. May their time left together be filled with abundant love. May the journey be smooth and graceful. Blessed be.

10. I'm sorry about your friend
I remember when you posted about him in the Cancer Support Group.

Harry & David has some prepared meals, I think. My mom sent some to her cousin around Thanksgiving and they were a big hit (I'm not sure if they sell them year-round).

Again, I'm sorry about the news. I'll keep them (and you) in my thoughts.

11. OK! I'll check out Harry and David.
Thanks so much for the good thoughts.

This is such a tragic story.
