OK, so I decided to do something nice for my little, I guess you could call him nephew(son of my sister's fiance's sister). The Doodlebops(if you don't know who they are, that's OK), are coming to town, so I decided to do the EASY thing and order tickets for their concert in my town in March through Metrotix. So, first things first, I couldn't get VIP, didn't have the "secret code" whatever the fuck that is, but tickets were available for the 1st row, so I put them in my cart, and then I find out that I can't simply order them, I have to sign up. I'm like, great, another account from some online store that will lapse. So I sign up, put in all my info, and in the middle of it, I get kicked out. Apparently they put a time limit on keeping tickets in the cart, they are reserved for 10 minutes, give or take. I was called away from my computer for a few minutes during this time.

Anyways, so I had to re-order the tickets, and reenter most of my information, FINALLY I'm signed up, and I then confirm the order. A little page pops up, saying its processing this fucking thing, then boom, page pops up saying "Sorry, order can't be processed". Do they give a reason WHY it didn't work, NO of course not. I fucking hate trying to order shit online. If I knew the internet was this inconvenient I would have simply drove to the Family Arena and bought them with cash. :grr:

2. Its not so much the technology, but the service that sucks...
Its just that so many of these hot shot companies have NO FUCKING CLUE as to how to properly implement technology in a manner that is LEAST ANNOYING to users. First, make registering with the website an OPTION, not a REQUIREMENT, some folks don't want to be constantly annoyed with fucking e-mail "alerts"(spam) from websites we visit once a fucking year, if that. That brings up another point, why the fuck do they ignore it when you uncheck the box on e-mail updates and "alerts"?

Also, if you have a website that's sophisticated enough to process an order through credit card/pay pal, whatever, it is also sophisticated enough to TELL the customer WHY the transaction failed in the first place. What the fuck am I supposed to do, guess?

I could also go on and on about the design of such websites, fucking annoyances there, especially when they make required things, like "terms of service" links in fonts so small, they are damned near a blur if you even notice them.

3. I have found that when that happens
it's most likely because the cart was designed to work ONLY in IE and I prefer Netscape or Firefox. That includes some of the biggies like Amex. It's most annoying.

Those folks for whom it doesn't work will have a hell of a time reaching someone who will take responsibility.
