Is an attorney who worked for a state agency (he did planning/building/zoning related stuff). He was fired 5 years ago when he started questioning certain practices regarding contractors and state government construction and rehab projects. He still is yet to find full time work and is an independant consultant on various projects. This stuff is very personal in my family and it's bad. I was hearing stories 8 years ago.

these are some really good people. But the whole GOP thing is beyond bizarre, the voting habits of these people are absurd. It is as though they actually believe that the GOP is the party of God, and if some of the other Nebraskans found out someone crossed to the Dem lines, and actually voted intelligently; the whole state would have to suffer the Ten Plagues of Egypt.

Bill Curry (in CT) tried to warn the state several times what Rowland was up to. They laughed at him. The Courant made jokes about Curry's weight but wouldn't cover his campaign.

In his "I told you so" interview recently, Curry said Connecticut, The Constitution State, used to enjoy a reputation as squeaky clean..."Now we're just Louisianna with foliage."

Anyway, CT and RI are pretty much tied in my book. The mayors of the two largest cites are in prison and Rowland is about to be impeached. Now THAT is progress my friends!

While there are some pretty good Texans, most of those I met were arrogant fools, that would do what they were told, as long as the one doing the telling has more money.

We haven't had an Attorney General go to jail for about 8 years? (Another member of the GOP). Robert Dwyer (GOP) avoided jail by sucide. Now the GOP do complain of Corruption of Democrats, but it is rare for a Democrat to go to jail (It is hard to get an conviction for corruption when the Defendant is honest). I remember the Republicans complaining of the "Corruption" under Governor Shapp (Governor 1970-1978). They tried their best to tie him into some corruption in the Pennsylvania Department of Highways but he had been a multi-millionaire BEFORE he ran for Governor (In the 1950s he invented a way to capture TV broadcast and transform them onto cable. He made millions on his patents and invented the cable TV industry. He did not need any more money.)

The fact he was a millionaire did not stop the GOP from accussing him of Corruption. Even as he defended himself by saying he sold off all of his cable holdings before he was elected Governor, they still accused him of double dealing. As to the Highway Department, it had been a source of Corruption for BOTH parties for decades. Shapp actually cleaned it up, but like most people who clean up a mess, the people who benefited did not like it and did every thing they could to show he was doing it not for the public good, but for his own corrupt ends. Some of the people in the Highway department went to Jail, but no one high up in the administration. As soon as the GOP won the Governorship all investigation ended (They did not want to find any GOP corruption).

On the County and local level, corruption exists. Judge O'Kicki of Johnstown had a good racket, he would give someone the Maximun sentence and than visit him in Jail and told him how much he had to pay to get a lower Sentence. The Feds indicted him for it and than he skiped to Slovenia (where some of the locals still think he is dispite the report of his death).

I will NOT go into our District Justices (Justice of the Peace). Pennsylvania and New Jersey are the last two states that say such justices do not have to be lawyers, this is to permit all the local party bosses to be DJs and run their local communities. Other district justice exists but some of them are as corrupt (For example the one lawyer who was an Allegheny County District Justice, she would sign search warrents and than call her dealer to tell them he is about to be raided).

Justice? You are taking your chances in District Justice Courts in Pa. Most DJs are good but you have a handful who perfer power to justice (Thank God William Penn made Juries manitory in this state, and thus DJ's decision can never be final. i.e. DJ's decision can always be re-heared by a Judge and Jury.)
