I have arthritis in my lower back, and it really started aching this morning. This is usually a good indicator that we're getting ready for lots of precipitation. I have no idea (nor does my back) how frozen the precip will be, just that there will be quite a bit of it.

28. One of the most depressing moments ever was when...

I had battled home from work in a major snowstorm, a 20 minute commute turned into almost an hour and a half. Got home and the bottle of Corazon smashed in the parking lot of my apartment complex. The fucking bag broke. I almost started crying.

34. I remember when I lived in CT, it took me 2 hours to go 3 miles.

It was unreal. Everywhere I looked, wrecked cars, abandoned cars.

Two years ago here, I went to the eye doctor to pick up my son's glasses, then dropped them off at the middle school. It was snowing, but not sticking.

I came out of the middle school, drove to Tropical Smoothie to get a smoothie for poor, sick, Teen Midlo :eyes: and came out to a friggin blizzard.

It came down so hard and so fast, it packed into ice immediately. If I had thought about it, I would have turned around to get my son, but I came home instead :stupid:

It was awful. A tractor trailor jack-knifed in front of me and then started sliding back down the hill towards me. A moran driving a jag decided to just pull over and get out and leave the car.

Trouble here is that most Virginians have no idea how to drive in the snow. There was a woman ahead of me in an SUV slipping and sliding all over the place and I wanted to scream at her to "SLow the FUCK DOWN you moran".

It was awful. My son's bus got him home at the right time and BabyMidlo usually walks, but some of the kids at Baby Midlo's school didn't get home until after 7PM because of the buses.

Now my friend and I have a plan. If it starts, one of us gets the little kids and one gets the bigger kids. Although I know TM is going to fight me every inch of the way tomorrow when I tell her she can't drive. :eyes: :sigh:

43. College, freshman year, terrible snowstorm, everything shut down

We find the one guy in town who will deliver a pizza to our frozen dorm (we tip him like there's no tomorrow). We get the 'zah inside, and my buddy (who is carrying the pizza) slips on the icy floor, the box flies open, and our pizza is deposited face-down in black, snowy water. I'm pretty sure we both cried, and a tender stranger who witnessed the entire affair came over and commiserated about how much it sucked.

12. Just so we're clear on this, the tail end of your storm is headed

north to hook up with our lake effect; not the other way around. When I came in last night from shoveling 2' of snow from behind my car, one of the people on the weather channel referred to lake effect spreading into western Maryland! Lake effect is specifically the snow that drops off as soon as winds passing over the Great Lakes hit certain elevations.

I'm tired of pedalling in the cold wrapped up for deep space. If I leave my face unwrapped, I can breathe, but my ugly mug freezes. Wrapped, breathing isn't as easy, and I tire for lack of oxygen. With snow and ice on the ground, I'm forced to take the train. And I hate that.

42. I had a hard conversion.

I used to dare the snow and ice, performing some ice ballet once in a while. The worst that ever happened was that someone saw me. Then a few years ago, I took a freak fall, ripping my leg muscles from top to bottom. It tuned black and blue the same distance. I was in pain for a few months afterwards. So I became a wee ice shy.

In Switzerland, a mate pointed to a winter bike that had snow chains.

The ONE cold thing about winter is that my allergies abate -- alot. But not THIS year... because of the damned mold still alive.

It helps, but the pressure and pain comes right back as soon as I finish it.

I'm also taking Rhinocort, which seems to help a little.

God, it sucks. I can tell as soon as I open my eyes in the morning if it has rained overnight, that is how sensitive I am to the mold here. We even had the house 'mold' proofed....nada.
