I'm sorry...
Why do so many people around here begin normal declarative statements with the phrase "I'm sorry" when there really doesn't appear to be anything to be sorry about?

"I'm sorry, but I'm supporting Obama/Hillary/Edwards in the primaries."

"I'm sorry, but I'm having pasta for dinner again tonight."

"I'm sorry, but I've just adopted a homeless orphan."

What's with the mia culpas when there nothing to apologize for?

I'm sorry for wasting you time on this subject, but I just think it's odd.
