4 Towels 1 Ashtray Taken From Motel 6 (SLOOOOOW News Day For THIS Paper)

:eyes:

edit to include MAP of the CRIME SCENE! :D

<snip>

EULESS -- For at least one customer, Tom Bodett probably won't be leaving the light on.

A thief took two cotton towels, two hand towels and an ashtray from a Motel 6 in the 100 block of Airport Freeway on Monday.

A police report did not have the dollar loss in the theft.

Bodett, the longtime spokesman for Motel 6, uses his trademark promise that "We'll leave the light on for you" to entice customers to the economy motels.

But Bodett won't be losing sleep over the Euless theft.

A police report states that a 28-year-old Watauga man who had been registered to the room from which the items were stolen was questioned by police officers in the motel's parking lot.

Patrol officers interviewed the man after noticing that he had been sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot for a long time.

In his vehicle were the missing towels and ashtray, reports state.

Hey, that's where my wife grew up. Of course, her family all left town long ago. Now I know why we never run out of towels!

6. Motel 6 strikes back at crime news is encouraging.

If Motel 6 can assist in the arrest and conviction of towel/ashtray thieves all those drug users that frequent the "6" for fun crack and coke parties better be careful. Oh yea, the hookers better get coy, too!

10. Towels are a gateway accoutrement.
I favor rehab and restricted house arrest rather than the usual mandatory prison. Let's just be glad it was only towels... this time.

11. Four towels and an ashtray from the Motel 6. Value of items - $1.56
They used up more in newsprint and ink to report this.

Seriously, have you ever stayed at a motel 6? The towels might as well be newspaper with metal filings. Certainly the plush towels of the Ritz.

15. Not newspaper - steel wool, spray-painted white. Same towels at Red Roof.

16. When I was 17, we went cross crountry and stayed Motel 6s,
they were actually six dollars a night, which tells you how long ago it was.

Between my friend and I, we used up all the towels WASHING OUR FACES. There was no hope at all for a decent towel after a shower.

Never again.

Edited on Wed Jan-31-07 01:51 PM by Prag
They had one of those paper towel dispensers with the crank on the side as their 'towels'.

It was set to the 'conserve paper' mode...

Another time... THERE WERE NO TOWELS!

Only an air hand dryer mounted on the wall!

17. Note to self: when stealing towels, dont' linger in the parking lot for an abnormally long time.
I bet if you looked into this, the guys rap sheet would be a mile long:
jaywalking
stealing grapes from a grocery store
public obscenity

Hopefully, 3 strikes and your out puts this guy away for a long, long time.

18. I saw a GREAT "Real Stories of the Highway Patrol"
It was a story about two local cops who found two women walking by the side of the road. The women appeared slightly intoxicated (chatty and silly), so the cops gave them a lift to a local truckstop. End of story.

i kept waiting for: a huge bust at the truckstop, or the lurid advances of the drunk women, or maybe a chase and shootout with the two helpless women in the car...

Nothing. That was it; the whole story, presented without a trace of irony or satire. Drove pedestrians to truckstop.
