iPod gurus.
How do I get this iPod shuffle thing to work? My husband bought it yesterday and he has a lot of CDs he wants to put on it, and for the life of me, I can't figure it out.

It doesn't appear to be the same as his nano :eyes:

Requisite disclosure: The male half of this partnership is an idiot. We now have more iPods than people and that includes the fact that I never had one because I don't want one.

1. Did you insert it into the USB port?

2. Yes. I put the USB cable into my computer and plugged it into the
shuffle. The music copies to my computer, but how do I get it to the iPod? When I do the sync thing...nothing happens.

4. Drag your playlists onto your iPod icon on iTunes.

That should work, I think.

Also, I think you can just plug the Shuffle directly into the USB port without a cable.

EDIT: I think the Shuffle is different in that you can only put playlists onto it, instead of having the songs just automatically load from your library. I have a regular iPod, so my experience with the Shuffle is limited.

5. Not doing it.
I can see the playlists and everything, but it won't let me drag. Ugh.

I promised him I would get it for him because he is such a luddite.

6. You can't drag them to the iPod icon located on iTunes?
That sounds very unusual.

Are you sure you're dragging the playlists to the "Midlo's iPod" icon within iTunes?

7. It says "devices" and it won't let me drag it to there.
I'm downloading a new version of iTunes. Maybe the one on my computer is corrupted.

3. You have to download iTunes.
I don't know if there's another way, but on iTunes, there is a button you can click to fill the iPod with any playlist you want to create.
