DC area DUers, please help!
Does anyone know of any liberal talk show hosts in the area I can listen to on the drive into or from work? Is NPR the closest thing we have? Please give me a station number of some kind!

Thanks

1. Chicago has the same problem
Sorry, can't help you with DC. I just wanted to let you know you're not alone in the country. We have the same thing going on here in Chicagoland. The best I can find here is an NPR station out of UofI in Champaign-Urbana...unless I drive under high-voltage power lines which is about every 2 or 3 miles, that is. Champaign-Urbana is about a 3hr drive south of me.

2. I have no idea.
But I'll be watching for responses -- I'd like to know too.

Hmmm... WAMU 88.5 has the Kojo Naamdji Show -- except it's from noon to two. sorry I can't help.

3. The center of politics
And the only political station I know of is WMAL, home of pukes like Dr. Laura, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and WJFK, where Bill O'Reilly has his two listeners when he's on opposite Rush.

4. Hmmm, well....
There's C-SPAN radio at 90.9. They aren't liberal or conservative, but you can listen to Washington Journal on your way in.

I'd say that (sadly) the best "liberal" shows are the entertainment shows. Don and Mike on 106.7 can be pretty funny when they get to talking politics. Mike is absolutely a liberal, and Don is pretty much just out for himself, but it's great how much they hate Rush. Mike does a good Rush impression. Also on 106.7 is Ron and Fez. Their show at 11am is the best liberal radio I've ever heard. Their evening show is a little bit more entertainment, but still good.

5. What about WPFW (89.3)?
Not sure what kind of talk shows they have, but I know they carry Democracy Now, and there is a "sound-off" style of session at around 9am (people just call in with comments, with very little discussion from the host).

I tend to bounce around between WPFW (talk and jazz/blues), WAMU (NPR and bluegrass), WETA (NPR and classical), and WRNR (progressive music). And DC101 if I'm feeling lazy.

7. Oh yeah, I forgot WPFW!
Definitely tune in to WPFW. They are definitely liberal, and Democracy Now is on in the morning, with local talk after that. I donate to them every year!
