I've exhausted every possible combination I can think of in searching DU (archives, too), and still come up emptyhanded...
I'm looking for a thread I'm 95% certain was started by Plaid Adder regarding same-sex marriage. It was probably posted between two and four months ago (that's what my gut tells me), and in it, PA discusses the proposed anti-gay Constitutional Amendment -- and how this is the first time an amendment has been proposed that would (pre-emptively) deny a right to a specific group, as opposed to granting a right to everyone.
Those of us who responded to PA's post were generally blown away by the thoughts therein -- it was all a very positive thread, as I recall. I think I myself replied to the question of whether or not an amendment had ever taken away any existing rights from U.S. citizens (and answered "Prohibition").
I know, PA has written TONS on s-s marriage, and has written a LOT of great stuff, but it's this one thread I really need to find -- PA made the point (about deny-v.-grant) perfectly, and I want very much to refer to it in something I'm writing.
Did anyone bookmark the thread? Or perhaps remember something else about it (like a really distinct keyword) that would help me in my thus-far fruitless search?
Many thanks, DUers!
