So - When should I take down the Christmas Tree?
I put it up the week before Christmas, when I was having a tough time getting "the spirit," and it sustained us through a season we don't always do well with. Now, it looks so good here, I don't want to take it down.
But I know I must, or be considered a total idiot by everyone.
So, when do I have to take it down? How long do I have?

3. About a week ago.
When Christmas ends, I'm pretty much done with it, and I'm done with all the decorations and stuff. But that's me.

It's your tree. Take it down whenever the hell you want to. Don't worry about what other people think.

5. if i had a christmas tree
I would have kicked it down after the last present was opened on Xmas day and thanked God for the opportunity to throw it out the nearest window.

6. When you get tired of it.
I generally leave mine up till Epiphany, which was today. Spent all morning undecorating and hauling it out.

If it helps, a friend recently told me that her mother always leaves her tree up till after Valentines Day. She takes all the Christmas ornaments off at some point, and redecorates it with little hearts.
Waaaaayyyy too much effort to me, but its kind of a sweet tradition.

7. It depends.
Is it indoors or outdoors? If it's outdoors, just take down the decorations and let the poor tree live to see another year!

9. It's indoors, and it is a fake tree
but it looks very real and I did a great job this year with the colors.

20. actually, i saw a history channel show that posited it took the magi
almost 2 years to find jesus. so, if the epiphany is the target to taking down your tree, there's really no hurry. :)

15. I also took mine down today
however if it looks real nice and you enjoy it then why don't you just take it down sometime over the weekend. It's inside and only the people you allow into your home would see it so you can do anything you like.

However outside displays should already been down.

16. Just tell inquiring folks that you're all ready for Christmas 2004!
Especially if it's an artificial tree. I have tons of lights and ornaments...and, this year I put up a simple artificial tree (about 2 feet high...with lights). It took me 15 minutes to decorate...and, about 30 minutes to un-decorate and pack away.

Next year, I plan to start in October with all of the fuss. Now is the time to prepare for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day and Groundhog Day and Easter and Graduation and...Fourth of July!
Before you know it...it will be Halloween and Thanksgiving...and, Christmas...all over again!

:D

18. When you're good and ready, dammit!
Have a drink, take down the star/angel/whatever, have another drink, remove a few ornaments and wrap them carefully, down another, take down the tinsel while trying to focus your eyes on the shiny sh*t, chug another, try not to trip over the fu**ing box that jumped out at you, have another swig, stumble into the tree causing glass ornaments to drop and shatter, what number is this?, get the broom, (gulp), cut your foot in the glass, #$^&$*#&^!!!, maybe a shot will help the pain & swelling, get a designated-foot-bandager to help, one more chug before bed, that god-damned Christmas tree can wait....

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

23. When YOU feel that the
time is right. I usually leave mine up till the end of January because I never get it up very early and I feel it isn't worthwhile to have it up only a few days. When I was a kid we always had a real tree and put it up two weeks before Christmas and NEVER took it down until the day after New Year's Day.
