It's time we explain the signficance of our sig lines & pictures
I've been at DU for almost 3 years now and some of you folks have the most interesting and unusual sig line & pictures. And from time to time I'll sit there and scratch my head and wonder what the DU poster was thinking when they picked his/her sig line/picture.

So I'll start.

First I picked my Bloom County Cartoon Strip. There was another BC strip with just Opus taking the dandelion break. But when I found this I thought it was for all of us here at DU - we all need Dandelion breaks.

Then I included our website for the DE for Dean group.

So come on fess up - what's the meaning behind your sig line & pictures!!

1. My sig's rather long
Line 1: My political report (with linky) and proclamation of C-SPAN watchingness.

Line 2: The current Democratic delegate account, according to my computations.

Line 3: Yep, I'm still ABB.

Line 4: C-SPAN quick watch links for those interested.

3. Me? I just post a funny or symbolic graphic
and change it from time to time.

It's usually either pro-Clark or anti-Bush.

This is my current one (grabbed it off Bartcop a few days ago):

10. Well heck, I just changed it a minute ago...
I had been sporting a Tlingit Orca drawing with the phrase "Go with the sky spirit, brother queet." Queet is the Tlingit word for orca. It was a final tribute to Keiko.

Today I'm sporting a scene and quote from Akira, an animated Japanese science fiction classic.

I haven't used it since we upgraded to DU2.

And there's always the one with the crazy yellow monkey holding shards of broken glass. I like that one cause it scares people.

13. I just like the oddball or funny pictures or animations
The New DU format makes it hard though, since I like to change them weekly, and I liked the old DU's way of changing them... I could "re-visit" my old ones in the archives ...now they all change to whatever new one I find :(..

I always strive to keep them small, and that's a challenge too.. Sometimes after I downsize them, it's hard to understand them :(..

15. helps explain my political ideology
as in I don't fit into any party so I'm an independent. It's not meant to be taken seriously. I have eclectic political views and support members of both major parties and Green too. Like the good mayor Michael Bloomberg who has supported Democratic and liberal causes while being Republican or the good General Wesley Clark who has supported Republican and conservative causes and is running as a Democrat.

If I ran for office I would just choose whichever party would likely win and pursue my progressive platform which will have liberal and conservative stances on different issues.

Catch-22 affected me deeply. I read it once and thought it was hilarious. Then I read it again in college where the prof actually explained more of it in detail. I think it's the greatest.

The picture is of Alan Arkin and Art Garfunkel in the movie version of the book, and I think the quote I included is very appropriate.

the one I have now I can't take credit for because I got it off of another board (not a political board). It's how I feel about arguing with RWingers and rethugs, who never seem to be informed enough to discuss the issues with intelligence.

that I currently use, is a quote from Napoleon Bonaparte and it is his opinion of religion.

I use many different pictures and whichever one I use in a post is one that expresses the mood of the post or my mood.

31. Funny, I just changed mine
For awhile, I had pink roses and a quote because I love pink roses and I loved the quote. Before that, a quote, then I had my little FG "vigil" picture (I still have my own quiet internal vigil, but that's another story for another time).
My new quote goes along with my momliness, my career goals (I'm a nursing student who wants to be a lactation consultant (works with new mom to help with breastfeeding issues), and I believe it an important, yet often ignored, public health issue.
It'll change again though. Eventually.
