My mother is leading a group of creative Vermonters who are using folk art to channel their despair about the doings of the Bush regime into The Chronicle Quilt of Outrage and Hope.
Their goal is to get people in every state in the country to send them quilt squares. There's no sewing or artistic ability required. All you have to do is your write a message on a piece of muslin and send it in. They'll do the actual quilting.
So far the quilt has been displayed at peace marches, Dean meet-ups, colleges. Howard Zinn has sent in a few squares, and they're hoping for more, lots more, from people of all walks of life.
So get some friends together for a night of red wine and quilt square writing. It's actually quite cathartic.
