Are you superstitious?
About what?

Inquiring minds want to know...

1. On long driving trips (which are frequent w/my coworkers)
I try not to comment aloud "Gee, I haven't seen any police cars all day."

afraid of summoning one? I tend to do things like that, too.

3. 'zactly!
My form of superstitions are of the sort of "avoiding the jinx."

4. More so then what would be considered normal
I have three unlucky numbers and I never stop in a book if the page number is one of those three. I never pick up money on the ground, its not mine and I consider it bad luck. And a few others I'd rather not share or there would be an effort to have me committed.

5. Heh...I doubt it.
I've got a whole lot of little ones that people seem to think are bizarre. And some fairly obvious ones that people are SURE are bizarre.

Thing is, my family isn't likely to commit me for 'em, because 1. They still need me do the laundry, and 2. I've passed them on.

7. LOL!
It's skeery all right. I catch all kinds of shit for it, but that's okay. My kids are all Cubs fans, too. And as a Cubs fan, my belief in jinxes, curses and general superstition has to run deep.

For instance...even though I've been saying it all along, the deal is sealed. They're already doomed for this season.

How'd ya like that Sandberg trade years ago? Lord how the bad business deals are spread about.

I get SI and that's like the ultimate hex even before the first pitch is thrown.

9. There's a rule for coins
If it's heads up, it's lucky and you pick it up. If it's tails up, it's unlucky and you flip it over so the next person can find it heads up and be lucky. My kids taught me that one.

13. I've never heard that one.
Great. Now that's gonna conflict with 'Find a penny, pick it up/All day long you'll have good luck/Find a penny, leave it lie/You'll need a penny 'ere you die."

12. I do that in jest
while knocking on my head, but I'm not superstitious. I break mirrors, walk under ladders, have black cats cross my path, step on sidewalk cracks, and whatever else with impunity. :D

16. I've had to let the black cats thing go...
because I've got two of 'em. I do avoid walking under ladders, but that's more because I'm afraid of something falling on my head.

I try not to break mirrors, though.

Once when I broke a 6'x 8'mirror I went in the bedroom a laid down... Told my sweetie I wasn't
getting up for seven years.

But... Have you priced a 6'x 8' beveled mirror lately? Yeek?

15. Yes, and if my right palm itches I'm due for some $$$.
Right ear burning someone's saying something good about me...

Drop a fork = woman will visit.
spoon = child
knife = man

There are tons of them I know... Possibly due to the fact my parents parents were fairly
superstitious.

19. I knock on wood.
I have a coffee table that exacts it's karma when you knock on it. I've had bruises and gashes in my leg for that table, but it has never let me down. I don't care if that table is falling apart, but I will never throw it away. It works too well.

:yoiks:

*runs to knock on wood*

22. Sometimes, but I can't think of anything specific right at the moment.
it's mostly a situational, in-the-moment kind of thing....not necessarily anything done regularly around a particular activity.
