Okay, which one did more to promote homosexuals as EQUALS?

"Spin City", hands down, is the winner and Carter is cute!

Though "Roseanne" gets high marks as well, they just didn't go as in-depth as "Spin City" did.

Now for the pointless sundries!:

An honorable mention goes to the "Married With Children" episode entitled "Dance Show" which took homosexuality semi-seriously and didn't always cater to stereotypes. Heck, it was funny so I didn't notice! :evilgrin:

Ditto for "Ellen"'s 5th season, which was NOT TOO GAY, was NOT ALWAYS GAY, and was hilarious, especially the DJ episode which hasn't any gay references in it! ABC's repeat schedule was also altered so I missed the re-run airing one week too late so I didn't tape it, damn!!! All the castrated religious whiners had a fit about her too and made sure to air commercials stating homosexuality is a choice, good grief... (yes, I choose to be humiliated, maimed, and killed because I didn't choose to like men.)

1. That's not really fair because

look at the years when Roseanne was on the air vs. when Spin City began.

I still love to watch the TV movie (can't recall the name) where they used Blondie's "The Tide Is High" all the time. PR for it made a point of saying about 1/2 of the guys were gay and 1/2 were straight and not one of them ever specifically said anything offensive/defensive like "Look at me, I'm straight"! Recall the scene where everyone who has died appears with people still living; I so wanted it to be true that I actually let myself believe it for a moment. Bruce Davison was truly outstanding in that one! Anyone recall the name?

2. I just never bought Michael J Fox...

in the role. The show never worked for me (and I tried). Roseanne is hands-down winner to me, at least in its early years (let's just forget the last couple of seasons, please). Martin Mull was flawless, his partner interesting. The lesbian kiss was wonderful, mom's coming out as a lesbian at 70-something was way overboard. Overall, the show was very gay-positive.

I discovered Blues Traveler through Roseanne and that, alone, will make me love the show forever.

3. Roseanne - no doubt.

That scene where she is kissed at the gay bar was almost cut by ABC. No doubt Roseanne helped the network TV gay movement.
