Pneumonia — not a drug overdose — killed Anna Nicole Smith, the National Enquirer has learned exclusively.

In the new issue just hitting newsstands, The ENQUIRER reports that preliminary findings reveal that tests performed during the autopsy show Anna Nicole had a severe case of pneumonia. Prescription drugs that she had taken made the condition worse and did play a role in her death. The full toxicology report has not yet been completed.

Sources very close to the death investigation told The ENQUIRER that the prescription drugs masked the seriousness of her pneumonia. Anna Nicole had previously been hospitalized for pneumonia in the Bahamas after her son died.

This time, the painkillers Anna Nicole was taking masked her symptoms and quickened the deadly effects of the pneumonia.

A young restaurant manager in Texas thought she was doing her job when she called the police on two girls who were notorious for using fake ID to get into bars. Unflattering photos of the two banditas made it onto the cover of the National Enquirer in July 2001. A year later the FBI would return to the building and literally scrape the floors and walls looking for anthrax spores because the Attorney General (John Ashcroft) had given what little the FBI had to the US Army.

On October 6, 2001, the death of the photo editor was attracting nonstop media attention. With Clintonian instincts, President Bush ordered the bombing of Afghanistan to begin. By October 7, the building was purged. By October 9, the CDC had informed the president that the anthrax used was the Ames strain, a type of anthrax patented by the US Army in 1986. The White House tried to take control of the story and suppress the identification of the strain. if true...it makes sense. she was terribly ill for days prior and a personal physician/friend was even flown from L.A. to examine her. Her temperature was 105. And her immune system was probably shot from the gravity of the loss of her son, perhaps combined with drug/alcohol use.

Dr. Perper was on Nancy Grace and he said no tests are back yet and when they do come in he will inform the public. Tabloid rumors can not be believed.
