5. Mad Season
Layne Staley from Alice in Chains, Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Mark Lanegan from the Screaming Trees and a bunch of other guys. Wake Up and River of Deceit are both great songs, the rest of their one album "Above" was so-so by their standards.

6. CSN&Y
Oddly, I do not like CSN&Y, so I don't know why they came to mind. Neil Young is the only one of the bunch who appeals to me, though they've done a couple songs that I can get into.

Tony Thompson is one helluva drummer. His work with Power Station was impressive. He sat in with Zeppelin at Live Aid. (I believe he and Phil Collins both did the drumming.)

19. The drummer actually was in another band.
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 11:47 PM by LibDemAlways
It was called "Rory Storm and the Hurricanes." Now he occasionally tours with his own "All Star" band. Ravi Shanker's guitar playing friend also later joined the Travelling Wilburys. The John and Yoko guy was with the Plastic Ono band and once sang on stage with Elton John. The Wings guy did a couple of duets with Michael Jackson. They got around.

29. Walk This Way by Run-DMC
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 09:02 AM by AngryAmish
(for years this has been my stock answer whenever anyone has asked for a song of any sort - most romantic, best country song etc. Always "Walk This Way by Run-DMC". Today this is actually a correct answer. Maybe it is time to retire it and pick a new song. Thoughts?)

34. King Crimson - Generation Three
Bruford returned from Yes, Colluseum and others
Belew left his band and from his projects with Bowie and Talking Heads
Fripp returned from a solo career
Tony Levin from all his various studio projects

Completely turned the band around.

Also, Aja by Steely Dan

That whole album was a collecion of sutido dudes, some of whom (like Larry Carlton) worked arrangements and provided alternative harmonic ideas.

35. Howlin' Wolf...."The London Sessions"
The Bluesman put together a pretty good session band out of some guys hanging around the studio...

keybord: Stevie Winwood
drums: Charlie Watts
bass: Bill Wyman
guitar: A guy named Eric Clapton

listen especially to Clapton talking the Wolf into playing "Little Red Rooster" with the band when the Wolf doesnt really want to.
"I don't think I can play it unless I can follow you," Clapton says.
Wolf responds, "Oh MAN, C'MON!"
as if to say
"Come ON! You're fucking Eric Clapton and you can't play"Little Red Rooster?"
but he plays it with them anyway.
