5. It means Axl Rose didn't have the good sense to die before he became a parody of himself
I'm pretty sure "die before you make too much of an ass of yourself" is rule number one in the rockstar handbook.

Same answers apply to both.

22. Hey, it's still stalling the 'Mats reunion. And that's why "Chinese Democracy" must come out!
I am predicting that when it comes out, it will be the biggest turd, and Axl will fire the rest of the band, knowing it couldn't be his fault. After that, I give it an hour tops before Tommy and Paul are on the phone.

Yes, I know it's not the same without Bob Stinson, but I never had the chance to see them live.

23. I saw them twice. Both times, sadly, post-Bob.
Slim wasn't shit. And frankly, by that point, neither was Westerburg.

I have doubts about a 'Mats reunion ever happening, but have you heard something specific?

It's not like Bash & Pop or Perfect really took off. And I didn't even touch that solo album he put out.

34. Yeah and a reunion probably wouldn't even be that good
Just disappointing. It's impossible to recreate the energy they had, so why bother? Do you really want a sober, wrinkly Westerberg to get on stage and play "Fuck School?" I don't.

Saw them open for Tom Petty either for Pleased to Meet Me or Don't Tell a Soul. That was nothing special.

Westerberg's solo show was actually better than the post-Bob Replacements show. I saw him on his 14 Songs CD tour. That record was decent, probably better than Don'T Tell A Soul or All Shook Down, but nothing like the Replacements stuff with Bob Stinson.

36. There's a good rule of thumb in there somewhere...
Any band that used to write Fuck-the-Cops anthems: if you're now more likely to call the police on your neighbors noisy kids than give a cop the finger, don't re-form the goddamn band.

38. Exactly why I almost never go to punk reunion shows.
I skipped the Dead Boys, Rocket From the Tombs, New York Dolls and well, pretty much any one you could name. Oh, and I'll be happily skipping the Stooges.

It bears mentioning this is a highly ironic subthread for me, as one of my old bands is doing a reunion show tonight, as a favor for an old friend. We were very much a fuck-the-cops band, too. In our defense, all of us still deeply mistrust police.

19. Other than a possible (nay, PROBABLE) resurgence of the
Axl Rose "Serpentine" Dance I can't think of a single negative. no wiat, do I mean positive, or was it....

Oh what the hell GNR suxxxxx.

I always thought Slash sounded like that 17 year old kid in the guitar shop who was a bit ahead of his buddies and thougth he was gifted. Yeah, I'm pretty much talkin' about Paradise City--P.U.

Maybe he's gotten better in the last twenty years but I don't think so.

And finally, just to be clear--Is GNR getting back together? Cos, even if'n they ain't I didn't want to miss a chance to point out that both they and Slash, in fact, suck.

26. I have to admit
I didn't think they were the best band, but they were instrumental in moving that type of music away from the "glam" shit that was happening. I thought it was refreshing to see a band using Les Pauls and Marshalls again. Their first album wasn't half bad, everything past that sucked.

Basically, I give them credit for being a little more rock and roll than the Cinderellas, Poisons and Ratts of that era.

But I can't stand to listen to them, especially that first record. Slash isn't a bad guitar player, and Buckethead has had some Eddie Hazel-like moments on the guitar, so I guess that balances it out somewhat..

Dull mid-tempo rocker, with some remarkably stupid vocals. Not all bad, but bad enough to make me wonder why they bothered.

Edit: Then I remember: it's not them; it's Axl and a bunch of replacements. The reason is clear. Money.

If they're getting together so they all walk to the chair together, than no, there is no negative.

If the reason is anything other than that, then yes, there is a giant negative.
