homophily
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/15/AR2006101500913.html

Was reading the above article for a class. Can someone tell me how to pronounce homophily? I struggle with pronunciation on occasion and this word isn't in the dictionary.

1. interesting article
the word has only been around since the 50's so that's probably why it isn't in the dictionary. I can't find a defintion with pronunciation online; I would assume the accent is on the second syllable but that is just me.

2. ho-mof-il-ee, one would think
(first syllable sounds like every other word that starts with the Greek root "homo", second "o" is shortened because of the following consonant sound, as in "homologous")
