The Biggest Phony Baloney Award goes to:
I walk a dog in a very upscale neighborhood here in Kansas City. And we were out walking around and I saw this heavy duty biker dude - all dressed in black leather with a bandana on his head. Expensive bike, very expensive leathers. Long hair and beard - the whole smear. And he lives in a huge house in a very expensive neighborhood. If his buddies only knew the truth.

Made me laugh.

1. I'm sure his buddies know.

It's the only place they can party that a maid will clean up after them. :P

3. Too funny. They probably all live in houses like that.
I'm not sure there are any real bikers left. That life styles costs too much - you would have to have a decent job just to afford the bike and the clothes.

2. Are bikers generally poor?
I guess I do not see how being wealthy and being a biker are necessarily mutually exclusive.

4. I don't think that members of the Desparados would be caught dead
living in that neighborhood.

5. It's hard to say
He could be what we refer to as a "RUB", for Rich Urban Biker. Some of these guys have more invested in chrome accessories than a lot of us have in our whole bike and they may ride it 300 miles a year, down to the cappucino place and back.

But, some of the hardcore 1%er types have gone into legit (and sometimes not so legit) ventures that have made them a mint and have "moved on up" to the big houses and all.

14. Hey, that's an innacurate stereotype!!
Bikers are not cannibals :(

They probably raped and killed the previous occupants, but they would never have eaten them :hide: :)

10. I know a biker who's a pharmacist
and owns a 1965 Rolls-Royce.

Most of 'em aren't Hell's Angels.

could easily be a Hell's Angel, you just might not know. In fact, I bet they'd love to have a pharmacist in the club :P

15. You know about 'em?
They're locally famous, or infamous, and they go back to the 1947 "riot" here, but I didn't know they were known outside the area.

Cool. :hippie:

21. It's a mess ;)
I used to work half a block off the main drag, at the newspaper. The Angels used to park their concessions trailer right in front of the building. We'd hang out in the newsroom from like 8 a.m. until about midnight and just wander in and out, checkin' out the action.

Good times, good times. :7

20. My Dad rides a Harley
and his other vehicle is a Lincoln TownCar he paid cash for, but he's thinking of getting one of those mercedes' with the V12 in them next, just because he thinks it'd be fun to drive. Our house is in a not-that-hot neighborhood, but we're movin' on up to the eastside as soon as he finds a place he's happy with, and renting out the house I grew up in.

And he's had bikes since before I was born. He's a loner though, not a mororcycle club guy or anything like that.

Most guys who ride motorcycles are at least middle class. Sometimes when I was growing up my Dad would take my sister and I to school one at a time on the bike because he couldn't afford to fix the family car until payday, but for the most part, if you can afford a not-entirely-practical second vehicle and have the time to ride it, maintain it and add on the occasional upgrade, you're probably a fair stretch away from poverty.
